Technology Services Laptop Support Station

What is the purpose of this station on the Saturday & Sunday of move-in?

I suppose to help anyone that might be having trouble getting their computer to work on the wireless network or need any other advice regarding using their laptop at Tulane.

My DD bought a Mac and we thought we could get a discounted deal on the Microsoft office for Mac. I called Tech services a month ago and the guy who answered said they did have it and it would be for sale on 7/3. So far, unless I am missing something, I cannot find it on the tech services website for purchase. Anyone else have any luck??

I called them for a copy of Windows the other day and they sent it to me. I think calling might be your best option.

DD did call yesterday and the tech services person said they have ordered the Office for Mac but it hasnt arrived yet. May arrive this week or next. Any writing needed before that will have to be done at the library.

MacBooks come with a basic wordprocessing program called TextEdit that can be found in the applications folder. It has most of what one needs for writing short papers, including spell checking. It should do until MS/Office arrives.

S2 is not using MS/Office at all. He uses iWork from Apple. It reads and writes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, but is easier to use and much more flexible for many tasks. The retail price is $79, the Ed price is likely much lower.

Thanks idad. I will tell her about that (she probably already knows and I am behind again!).
