Ted Kennedy has killed a woman

In 1969 Ted Kennedy has killed a woman by driving his vehicle off a bridge .Here is the write up on him of what happened.
this is the site;http://www.conservapedia.com/Ted_Kennedy</a>.
On July 18, 1969, Senator Kennedy drove away from a party on the island of Martha’s Vineyard with an attractive young woman named Mary Jo Kopechne. In what he later described as an accident, Kennedy made an unusual turn and then drove his vehicle off a bridge connecting Chappaquiddick Island to Martha’s Vineyard. The car landed in a pond, where Kopechne then drowned. Kennedy did not report the incident to the police until the next morning, and his statement then was implausible to many Americans.

This death became a national scandal and hurt Kennedy’s image. He entered a plea of guilty to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury, but did not serve any time in jail in a sentence criticized for its leniency towards a member of a prominent family. In an additional criticized decision, no autopsy was performed on Kopechne despite the presence of illegality and unanswered questions about her death.

And you are posting this why? I think most people with a brain know about this already. I’m not even from the US originally and I know it.

wow I didnt know this. I’m a conservative but to be honest, the man was young and reckless, like most people his age. He’s done a lot politically that warrants respect.

I would guess this is an attempt to discredit Obama, who Kennedy endorsed a few days ago.

I would guess you are correct. Interesting that the OP had to come to CC and set up an ID just to post this. Dirty tricks as usual for certain people.

wow I didn’t know this either

I’m guessing most people my age don’t know this.

I thought I had a brain, but I had no idea about this either. Agree with snoopy… it’s probably not a well known fact in our generation.

Yes i did not take into account the different ages on CC so I apologise to all the younger brains out there…

I do question the OPs reason for posting this at this point in time. Especially as it is a new poster that apparently set up an ID just to make the posting.

and most people MY age do know this! ever since his name has been once again in the limelight, i’ve been thinking about what he did. regardless of my political views, i actually thought getting an endorsement from him would be perhaps a negative thing. but he IS the big, surviving Kennedy, and although the Kennedys themselves are split on their democratic choices, he is certainly getting attention. i remember this well, and well… that family has pushed the envelope all along. they worked hard and played hard. charismatic, attractive, wealthy and refreshing. SOME, not all, made some bad choices, with alcohol being a contributing factor. anyway, politics is politics. i would never have said any of this, if i didn’t come across the post. and altho i’m NOT ted kennedy’s age  i remember it all. wow…

Growing up in Hyannis, I was well aware of it.
The Kennedy name got him off the hook, as it has for many in that family unit.
Don’t quite get the relevance of bringing it up here or now.
So the voting public in Mass continues to re-elect him…is it just to discredit Obama ?

i have no idea why this thread was started, either, but that IS my point…i don’t think the thread discredits Obama(even if that’s what OP meant to do) .i was trying to say , for some, the ted kennedy ENDORSEMENT discredits Obama.

I love how the OP cited a website called “conservapedia.com”

Conservapedia is hilarious. You should take a look.

parts of it are anyway - such as

Other parts not so much

Yea, there’s nothing in that whole excerpt that is remotely false, except maybe this line:

Dude, it’s from conservapedia. This is the website that thinks the Earth is 6000 years old and that homosexuality should be punishable by death. And that Jesus created the earth in 7 days. I’m not inclined to believe anything it says, no matter how true it may be.

Uhh, call me crazy but I believe that God created the earth in 7 days. Yea, now I’m gonna get a bashing from the Left-wingers on CC.

I LOVE CONSERVAPEDIA

It’s kind of like The Onion

lol

bashes beefs

=P

now that you’ve said that you won’t actually get flamed.

it’s like reverse reverse psychology…but yeah…i think a lot of people on cc are just open-minded.
