Teen skill inventory

After sending three kids to college, I know there are a lot of skills that indicate college-readiness. However, I am convinced that there is one skill that, unless mastered, indicates absolute non-readiness: The ability to get up by yourself in the morning.

@missypie, I was concerned about that as I had to wake both kids every morning for school, but fortunately in college, they figured it out and got their bodies to their very expensive classes and managed to graduate.

Knowing how and when to ask for help is a biggie.

Also how to complain effectively and get your concerns addressed is huge.

Thanks for the suggestions – good and hilarious!

Over 60 and since I do not drink coffee I never make it. However, I am the family shopper and buy the makers.

I disagree on the chopsticks- and less waste using a fork than disposable chopsticks. Using a fork- good skill for the U.S. (Indian inlaws did not know this skill when they first arrived).

One of my biggest concerns was son getting up on his own in college since his extra loud alarm was heard down the hall without his waking up. He did fine. I also noted he was always up and ready early when he had a morning cross country meet to get to some Saturdays.

btw- knowing and doing are two different things.
