Telecommunications Path

S is finishing a A.S. at a community college in telecomminucations/networking. He has a LD. He is not a good student(2.6 gpa) but he has loved and excelled in the computer and electronics course work. He has also worked part time for the last three years in the IS department for a hospital/ My husband is pushing him to consider transfering to a 4 year school . I wonder if maybe he should just try to pass the various certifications (Cisco, microsoft) and start working full time.

Any thoughts?

If he can get into a 4 year school and it can be paid for, then he should go.

It’s better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.

Certifications are good, but lots of jobs will require a BA/BS as a minimum requirement.
