Tell about your favorite American Made Products

<p>I’ll start with one I just came across. It’s women’s apparel so won’t be of interest for most CC guys. There’s been a recurring theme in many threads of how hard it is lately to find American made products. </p>

<p>So please pipe in with any American Made products you’ve found recently – appliances, tools, cosmetics, clothes, etc.</p>

<p>So here goes (the website is a little cheesy but trust me the leggings are terrific):</p>

<p>When I told my friend that I found a pair of a European trip-worthy, dressy, comfortable, sturdy shoes that were made in the US, she almost fell off the chair, “No way! There are NO shoes that are made in the US!”</p>

<p>Yes, there are, and they come in many width, all the way to WW:</p>

<p>New Balance still makes their shoes in NE, although when less than 70% of all materials in their shoes are US-made they label such shoes as “Assembled in the USA”:</p>

<p>Of course, my favorite American-manufactured product is the one that gets heavily used every winter when the weather gets too rainy to enjoy the outdoors:</p>

<p>The treadmill we own was made in the little town less than 10 miles from our house!</p>

<li><p>Hand tools such as the Sears Craftsman tools that are made in the USA.</p></li>
<li><p>Certain other tools and garden implements like shovels, etc. I’ve found that tools made in the USA are almost always excellent quality. </p></li>
<li><p>New balance tennis shoes that are made or assembled in the USA - I believe they’re the only major sport shoe brand that makes anything in the USA (but not every model is - you need to check to see if it’s assembled in the USA). I use them in part for this reason (plus they fit me better and are of good quality).</p></li>
<li><p>New Balance and some Nike socks that are labeled as made in the USA.</p></li>
<li><p>My Bosch dishwasher was made in the USA.</p></li>
</ul>

<p>Unfortunately it’s getting more and more difficult to find things that are made in the USA. The items may cost a bit more but I don’t mind paying more for quality plus keeping a few more jobs in the USA.</p>

<p>OK, this is my third post in a row, but I simply cannot resist and have to put a little “advertisement” for this business that makes furniture in MA:</p>

<p>A couple of years ago DH and I were looking for a granite-top dining table, and our local furniture store had Saloom dining sets on display. We were very impressed with the design and quality. I get to enjoy my American-made table every day. :)</p>

<p>I have been consistently surprised with the quality of my Ford Escape, union made in Kansas City. At 15,000 miles since purchase last February, I have yet to find a problem in its actual manufacture. There are a few bugs in the Microsoft software, however.</p>

<p>Those Munro shoes are pricey…My 82 year old mom buys them cause they accommodate her feet that have taken a beating all these years. </p>

<p>Some Brighton things are made in the US (not the jewelry). I think the belts are made in the US and some other products. I’ve been in their factory in Calif. The jewelry and maybe some/all of the purses are made overseas.</p>

<p>We are the happy owners of a locally manufactured product (Everett, WA) that we look into every morning (not sure I always like what I see, but the product itself is stunning!). Of course, DH had to get the version with Cramer’s ugly head embedded in the mostly Chinese manufactured component used in our version of the product:</p>

I have a Tristar bag that I took on a trip to Italy this year, great design.

<p>musica, I don’t have a Steinway, but I have a Wegman upright- it is about 120 years old and was my mothers.</p>

<p>Also love my Leatherman (25 years old) and still made in Portland. If you saw the movie
127 Hours, you will understand the value of buying a quality product in the US. (cutting his arm off took twice as long as it should have since he only had the cheap knock off import)

<p>My 12 yr old Sharp microwave was made in the USA. Sharp still runs a manufacturing plant in Memphis, Tennessee that assembles microwave ovens.</p>
