Is purdue IBE worth it ? Is the class competitive (are the students smart) ? What is the class profile ? What was average SAT score of accepted students ? Is the faculty good ?
This is a relatively new major and the first IBE class hasn’t graduated yet, so there are no outcome metrics. I’d recommend reaching out the program to ask about the class profile, scores, etc… and they should be able to put you in touch with a current student.

What do you mean by worth it?
We went to admitted students day and attended the IBE sessions. Freshman year you take engineering classes and the workload is rigorous. The schedule is all on-line so check that out and see if you like the coursework. I do believe this is an important program (flagship even) for the Daniel’s school. It is apparently a re-branding and update to the historic MI program, which was a business major with one of the highest starting salaries.
But is it worth it – it depends. If you really want to be an accountant, then no.
It does seem quite easy to switch out of IBE into other majors at Daniels. But you can’t switch into it without adding time to graduation because of the entry level courses you have to take in engineering.
