Tell Me Something Good

Most people need positive comments and good thoughts. I felt the warm sun on me today as I sat in my car during my lunch break. Random people thanked me today for a good job.
Tell me something good.

I am getting through the day ten minutes at a time.
I went to see a therapist yesterday regarding the estrangement between my oldest daughter and myself. So that was a positive step. Especially since my husband used my car to take our youngest on a camping/fishing trip, yesterday and it is very quiet here.
I had to drive his POS car ( my definition because he loves it) on my errands. Fun.
Sorry, you wanted positive stuff.
I also saw my PT today who is great, but I dont think I can take any more people feeling sorry for me.
Why does that bother me so much?
I wish I could just keep stuff bottled up.

Is it a full moon or something?
Facebook is full. Of. Drama.

Your thread reminded me of this song though.

Something good:

An intense project at work that had consumed me for over 3 and a half years came to a final successful conclusion this week when it was granted regulatory approval by the government.

Thats fantastic, coureur!
Does it come with funding?

I recently connected with a long lost sister – a half sister that I hadn’t seen since she was a baby. It turns out she is a very nice person. What a nice thing it is, getting to to know her now, finally, after all these years.

I also had some really good ice cream today – sweet corn ice cream. It’s soooo good.

I spent the afternoon staring at the Gulf of Mexico with my daughter and my three nieces. We laughed and played and relaxed. It was a good day.

mstee- Sweet corn ice cream- that is a new one. We have sweet corn here- I wonder if there is ice cream in that flavor.

emeraldkity4- yup I was thinking of that song when I started this thread! Loved the video!

BTW-My name was chosen after the John Denver song. In 2008 H and I (in our 50s at the time) climbed our one and only 14er Quandary and I thought of that song at the top. John Denver had a real attachment to Colorado.

After trying since 2007, we have finally got the insurer of 75-80% of our state to work with us about the 3rd leading cause of death, 2nd leading cause of disability in the US–COPD!

For the first time in many, many years, was able to recover head off a breathing problem without antibiotics!

HImom- did not know that stat. wow.

Yes, there are over 15 million US adults diagnosed and 12-15 million undiagnosed. It’s also the 3rd leading cause of death worldwide (tho 2nd leading cause in some nations). In developing world, its increasingly afflicting kids and women due to biomass fuels in homes.

In the US, its estimated COPD costs over $50 BILLION annually.

Baby version of Coueurs project completion went live at my workplace last week after 15 months gestating.

Planning on first day off in weeks sitting in the sun in the pool this weekend.

For the first time since September of 2011, H was able to swim in our pool last weekend.  He missed all of last summer and the beginning of this summer due to illness/multiple surgeries…we think all that’s starting to be “behind” us!

nice thread idea, rockymtnhigh. I remember reading Gretchen Rubin’s Happiness Project column on Slate, and she mentioned the idea of finding one thing each day that makes you purely happy. Sometimes it’s the sun glinting on the water, or the tree boughs as they rise and fall with the wind. What always makes me smile is seeing toddlers in strollers, their little feet bare and all beautiful ten toes on display for the world to see.

Yesterday got some unexpectedly good news – our insurance claim for pothole damage to our car was paid for by our insurance company! We have never ever filed a claim (for fear of getting dropped or rates rising). This will help pay a lot of bills.

My principal trusts me and has my back. :)

I recently had a story accepted for publication–first time in three years!

And my daughter got married to a wonderful young man and the ceremony and celebration were wonderful.

To top it off, when my H and I went kayaking last weekend, we had dolphins all around us.

Been a nice couple weeks.

Building Department was kind enough to make sure my project got on the planning board agenda even though I submitted it so late they would have been well within their rights to tell me they didn’t have enough time.

Another planning department took the paperwork a day late. (This one wasn’t my fault!)

Sometimes bureaucrats really can be nice and cut the red tape.

OTOH there’s another building department whose head gave me the wrong Floor Area Ratio and doesn’t know the difference between a cellar and a basement.

My son is home until the end of July. He has matured into a delightful young man. On Wednesday morning–garbage/recycling day–I trucked down to the end of the driveway 4 boxes of his papers. I cleaned them out of his room in September 2008 when he left for college, and they have been sitting in the garage ever since. :D

My very old standard poodle, who has been having difficulty breathing and unable to get up for days… got up… went outside and walked all around the yard. He stayed outside for a long time and seemed happy and back to his old self. He played with his best friend, our/his cat Mittens who truly seems to prefer him to us. It was a very good day. I thought I was going to have to make that hard decision, but not today. Not today.

Good for you, EK! Now next time, take your husband with you.

Earlier this week, I found out that a good friend from high school had been kicked out of the house by her stepdad. After hearing about it, my parents immediately took her in no questions asked. I didn’t ask them to, they just can’t stand the thought of anyone living in their car while my parents have room in their house.

Our foster dog is responding very well to his surgery and is already up and lightly running around with our dog. He has already been housetrained and we’re slowly working on crate training.
