Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

Yeah, these discussions are really for socializing and learning more about each other. They also force us to form opinions about important issues in today’s world and they’re educational. Also, fun.

Gun control sounds good.

pros : “safer” /crazy people don’t shoot other people

cons : against 2nd amendment/ people feel less “secure” long registrations/limits hunting

where is everyone? elmo feels lonely

What if you made people undergo a brief psychological evaluation before purchasing a gun?

Just felt like sharing that in NY, you can’t get a pistol permit unless you have a pistol for the permit, and you can’t buy a pistol unless you have the permit for it.

Honestly, I can’t think of a reason for a person to own heavy firepower like an AK-47.

mebbe they got scared after watching “cloverfield” (not like an AK would do much good anyways). most states prohibit automatic weapons anyway

you can have ak-47’s in florida cuz the law expired. but i think they are working to get it back.and i dont think it should be gun control as much as keeping better reacords. and frankly if you have more than like 15 guns and they have no family history or historical significance your wasting your money.

in terms of personal defense in a house, i don’t think anything more than a handgun is necessary. but guns are also used for hunting (an american “tradition”)

wow, this thread is moving slow…

Yeah, it doesn’t have the energy it has when we’re all here and it’s like ten o’clock.

mebbe we should call it quits until this afternoon, when people have more time

Alright… I should probably be doing my homework anyway.

Are you guys going to be watching the Superbowl, or is tonight going to be debate-time as well?

Did anyone receive any sort of verification that their TASP applications were received?

Nope! I just hope it has been and isn’t lost in the mail somewhere…

^^ you can confirm it online by checking your application status page

cira, are you rooting for your home-state Giants?

You can? WHere? I’m looking on the Telluride Association webpage and not seeing anything… I mailed my app so I don’t know anything about the online process.

I don’t know anything about football, but I know the Giants don’t have much of a chance. Where I live, we’re all about the Buffalo Bills. They suck and we don’t care. It’s like our regional obsession. Slightly unhealthy.

I think I kind of want the Patriots to win. They’ve worked hard, maybe cheated hard, but it would suck so ridiculously much for them to lose now. I’m all about the happy endings.

haha…cute

cira, i got an e-mail from TASP.

here’s a link i found on the TASP website : https://www.applyweb.com/apply/corntell

scroll down and click on “review your activity”

Hmm… That’s disconcerting. Did you mail yours too? Maybe they’re still processing them and haven’t gotten to mine.

Well, crap. Now I’ve gotta worry about this.

cira, check out my link i posted 2 posts back. i submitted online, so it shows confirmation

I don’t think you can find out there if you mailed your application, which is very frustrating.

Oh. i think you could’ve included a self-addressed postcard to confirm, but other than that, yeah sorry, that blows

Wink is in the house!
Anybody else here?
