Heh, yeah, that whole four-years-costs-$200,000-at-any-vaguely-selective-private-university thing is not really going to work out for me. My parents have capped their contribution to about $8,000 a year, and if things go as planned, my dad won’t even be working once I get into college… So basically, I have to get into Harvard or go to a state school, or a crappy private school that will offer me a merit scholarship for understanding the basic tenets of chemistry or physics or something.

Or a good, huge college that everyone knows about and is impressed by, but one in which you’ll never stand out, or a smaller, less well-known college that you can really get to know your professors and do research with them?

I kind of have to figure out what colleges I want to visit about now, since I have next week off of school and mom said she’ll take me around. I’m guessing she only means within a few hours of my house at the most, but I could go to Cornell and fingerlakes, Rochester area stuff…

you have next week off? nice… yeah, the nearest university is 15 minutes away (10 if you speed), but that’s a little too close for comfort. the in-state university i actually like to go to is about 300 miles away, so i’m probably not going to visit that yet

Eh, it’s screwed up. I have next week off, and a week of in April, in lieu of a proper Easter break. I’d rather have it later though. Most of the time, during spring break, it’s nice enough out so that you could, say, walk to your friend’s house because your parents obviously don’t have the week off too. In February, you would probably be found dead on the side of the road if you venture more than ten steps out into the freezing cold.

There are some decent colleges close enough that I could live at home for, but I would really never want to do that. My mother would make me clean my room and I’d hate to miss out on the college experience of drunk idiots out in the dorm halls shouting at four in the morning…

sigh college… it’ll be nice… especially freshmen year when the rest of the freshmen are just as scared as you are, and everybody’s actually nice to each other

i dont have any decent colleges near me. gainesville is forever away and going to miami is annoy as hell.
but my only hope is getting in somewhere instate that gives money, a super selective has pity on my soul and takes me and of course pays my way cuz im just that poor, or an hbcu.
otherwise im screwed and in debt. :(

Freshman year is going to be scary as hell. Too many new people for Cira! She’s shy when she doesn’t know anyone. I know I’m going to freak out about everything. Hopefully it’ll help me get over that, though, and I can learn to be gregarious and entertaining, because that seems like much more fun.

^^ in that case, i should go to the university 15 minutes away from me cuz i know a coupla of the freshman and sophomore class already. ugghh… boooooooorrrriiiiinnnnngg. although it would be nice to go to college with someone you know and get along with.

you have to phase that out. though im soooo bad with names, people are gonna hate me. but once im there for a week or two i should be ok. but then again college isnt tass…

and dont do it elmo, i have a college that is like 15 minutes from my house and i wouldnt go there for my life. like i literally already live there when i have projects to do. it wont be new enough.

I would absolutely love to go to Deep Springs (I have no qualms with manual labor.) except I can’t because I’m a chick. =P I don’t think there’s a female equivalent either. Ah well.

Anyone else up for a haiku?

in just one months time
oh my dearest telluride
notify me, please!

Girls can join the Telluride houses at Cornell and stuff… That would pretty much be my HG of college experiences, except maybe Princeton, working with Bonnie Bassler or some world-renowned physicist.

My stomach lurches
I fret and want to throw up
T-A-S-P, now!
