Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

Cira is short for Velociraptor (because I’m short and fierce! Also I heart XKCD)
MLS is short for My Little Socialist
Elmo is our pronunciation of LMOE- Last Man on Earth, so proclaimed because Donny likes so many girly things.

What part of chivalry is so great? Men open doors for us? Hmm… Do I want to be paid as much as a man would in a similar position, or do I want a man to occasionally take three seconds out of his busy life and minutely make my day that much easier? Chivalry is dead, Donny.

Ugh, Donny! You always beat me to stuff like that!

ahh and i beat you both. mwhahaha.
and seriously donny chivalry is not the even the problem, if it was for you. go ahead and start seeing me as your equal homie.lol.

Thank you for the guide! Things will be easier to understand now…

Those explanations are absolutely brilliant.

Cira is short for velociraptor? Hahaha!

don’t take offense ladies… but…

girls think everything guys say have a sexual or condescending innuendo
girls are overemotional
girls are touchy
girls are paranoid
girls have get obsessed with something WAY too easily
girls always try to put the blame on the guys
girls are roundabout

that’s all i could think of for now. how about orlando for disneyguy, you know… disneyworld…orlando…

It’s not only door opening, it’s everything. That’s ambiguous, I know. It’s the fact that you(a women) will always be put forth above a man.

Ahh! I have to go eat. You all argue amongst yourselves. I’m gonna go eat quick.

what girls are you hanging out with. most of your list is crap.
i have a few male friends that most of that list describe quite nicely infact.

whoa, mls don’t freak out. (there’s the touchy part) :). i was just playin’. most of the girls i hang out with are actually calm and somewhat rational :). but you have to admit, those traits show up more often in girls than guys.

sheesh. what kind of guys do you hang out with?

lol. the awesome kind. and hey there is nothing wrong with a dash of crazy.lol.

a dash… yes. but in this case, a deluge… no :)

D-Yu, boys always generalize. (: If you’re going to make bold statements like those, back them up with fact.

I’ve got a youth group meeting to go to now, unfortunately. I’ll be back somewhere between 8:30 and 9:00. If you guys are still on the same subject, I’ve got some schooling to give Elmo and Donny.

I’m back! Anyways, I’m not talking about Chivalry, per se, but what is left over from the chivalry movement. For example, say a police arrives at the scene of a domestic dispute and discovers that a woman slapped her husband and the man retaliated by hitting her. Whom of the two do you think would be arrested?
Women are given more leeway than man. I’m not saying it’s right, but for you know it’s true. Like I said before, women are considered whiter than the feather of an angel and can do no wrong. It’s why you never see female villains in movies, books, etc.

and cat woman was supposed to be a hero right. pfft women do go to jail for domestic violence. and how about being the bigger man and not hitting them back. wait that’s elmo. lol.

I’m about to pull a nerd, watch out!
Catwoman, while at first introduction a villain, is more closely associated with the title of anti-hero.
I dabbled in comics when I was younger. Used to live in a small town with a “corner market” that restocked its comics weekly, so that’s where my bro and I got our entertainment fix.

there’s also a reason why many of the world’s greatest leaders are male (Martin Luther King, Caesar, FDR, Gandhi etc.). we can take responsibility and not fear it. females don’t unless they’re like Hilary :)

btw. i thought that catwoman eventually turns good

also, girls like to gossip, spread rumors, backstab etc. you want proof for that one cira? take a look at any high school / college

ok again not up on the comic book love. and women werent really given the oppurtunity for all that. i’d mention queen victoria, but really. the past was all men all the time.

Believe me, I support universal equal rights. Women and men should be treated equal, but we still live in a world where men are expected to treat women differently than they treat men, which the people behind gentlemanship and chivalry and all that thought was helping women when in reality it has been detrimental to the elevation of the status of women in society.

The day that a man and woman can have a fist fight, with neither party being accused of any wrongdoing, we will have reached a world were both sexes are on equal ground.

though an odd goal i agree.

I am a male…and also a hardcore feminist. I was brought up by an avid South Asian feminist mother, a lesbian activist aunt, and a politically inclined sister. The only reason that the majority of historical leaders were men is because of the subjugation of women through gendered stereotypes. Men have consistently deluded themselves with the notion that they are superior; thus, placing women into the cult of domesticity and barring them from assuming positions as leaders. Women have the same potential and mental capacity as men. The only valid argument one could suggest against women is that they are not naturally inclined to have as much physical strength as men. This makes the fact the the majority of historical WAR leaders were male, but certainly does not justify how many political leaders have been male. Additionally, the United States is one of the least progressive countries in terms of womens’ rights. Many third world countries including India have already had significantly OUTSTANDING political leaders (Indira Gandhi, etc.). By highlighting social stereotypes like claiming that women are “fickle” and inclined toward gossip, we actually further buttress the negative social conscious of women in society. The day the feminist movement will succeed will be the day where there will be no need for feminism because women will have equal footing as men in the global society. As intellectually inspired youth, please make the conscious decision not to enforce gender stereotypes and be more receptive to the fact that no one sex is superior.

Wink is here.
I should have been conquering Asia, but I was forced to go off to visit my aunt and play card games with her. So Asia will have to wait another day for its Golden Age.
Now I have the daunting task of going back to read the last 10 pages of this thread…

“Men have consistently deluded themselves with the notion that they are superior.”

Yes this is absolutely true, and in no way a generalization. (:

Wow, you wrote a lot! Nice to meet a new member of the thread, though!

Neither myself nor elmo were saying men are better. What we were were trying to do was explain the status quo of the status of men/women.

Hey, wink!
