…Except drinking, which I think is completely arbitrary.

So why have the age of consent lower than that? I understand having a notification below the age of consent, but if the state says you’re old enough to consent to sex, you should be old enough to have the legal rights to deal with the consequences of your acts on your own.

exactly but people get funny that way.
personally i dont agree with abortion except in the basic certain cases which have been mentioned. nonetheless i wouldnt want the government to call it illegal it is not their right. it is not their uterus and vagina.
as voltaire said: I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.
i like the theme of that quote.

Hey, people used to get married then. We’ve had a cultural shift, now people get married in their late twenties… They just haven’t cleaned out the legislation junk drawer yet.

Some people STILL get married then (siting those laws).
It’s one thing to ban the act of tying an alligator to a fire hydrant (junk law #128562). It’s totally another to allow someone to get married at 13.

what are the politicians doing???
gahh!!
and i agree with elmo, but some dudes dont do it.

and that is the exact problem people want to get all coy about the topic.
and cira, maybe the man pool is really small, for some people. populations can be depressing.

It looks like we’re back to contraception (deja vu, anyone?)…

Some Rules to Safe Sex:
KNOW the guy you’re doing it with. Make sure you trust him.
Use/carry contraception consistently if you are sexually active.
Don’t get drunk or impair rational thought.
Think before you act; foresee the consequences.

It’s about instant gratification now. Everything moves so fast and so crazily that no one takes the time to stop and THINK about their actions before they follow through. And being the bright bunch that you are, I know that I’m preaching to the choir when I say that you need to think about such huge decisions as having sex and avoid random hook-ups and drunkenness.

Woo. There’s your little lesson kiddies. Now go out and have fun (and no, that does not have any innuendo attached to it).

The intelligent/caring/responsible man pool IS very small, at least at this age and the years to follow, which is why it is important to find a guy you love and trust before you take on a life-changing decision such as whether to have sex.

here here wink. there are soo many consequences to rushed sexual activity, think of the possible STI’s, pregnancies, and it has got to chip away at your self esteem to wake up many a morning and wonder what the heck happened to night before.

Thanks, panic. I’m glad someone appreciates my efforts. I do TRY to look out for you guys, after all. :)

I don’t understand why people are so willing to rush themselves into potentially dangerous and physically/emotionally damaging situations. There should at least be a serious commitment between two people before sex (and I’m not talking about "OMG, we’ve been going out for two weeks. Let’s do IT.)…People use their brains shockingly less than they should.
