Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

I’m going to go wash my hair and such and maybe do all that homework I’ve ignored all evening…

All right, I’m going too. I don’t think anyone is here anymore? Good night everyone.

Hello, Dave. Sorry, I’ve got that movie on the mind
Speaking of majoring, I’d like to go into either anthropology or geology. Mainly because both would take me to the outdoors.
I’m I the only one with a leaning to the social sciences/humanities?

I’m back from Chamber Singers…

I could see myself going into:
-English
-Philosophy
-Music
-Biology

So you’re not the only one, Hudson!

from waaaaaaaaayyyyy back. that’s me. (e-mail)

Elmo is in the house (right whe everyone’s) leaving

Somebody else, yes! I hope some one else scurries back so we can have a proper debate before I go lay down for the night.

Three people, nice. Think this is the first time it’s just been us guys, so whose up for debating?

Oh, come on. TASP will never be a men’s club. :)

hhmmm… the paranoidity of girls? JK! cira and the others will probably murder me when they find out.

you will NOT believe what our physics teacher did. normally, when we do a lab, we read it beforehand to know the instructions, etc. this time, we were supposed to derive and equation to predict our results. the entire class didn’t (partly because we didn’t kno how). sooo, instead of giving us a deduction on our lab, she created a new section in the gradebook for participation, and gave us all 0. we never have participation, except for wrapping books and stuff, but its worth 10% of our grade. so everyone drops a letter grade

Yes! Four people! Wink, have any ideas?

Elmo, I hate when teachers drop something completely foreign on you, and then expect you to understand it because they do, but they fail to realize that they have had years to become fully accustomed to the concept while you only have an hour.

gay marriage?

I’m afraid wink is rather idea-less today and will have to rely on you big, strong, brilliant men to come up with something to talk about.

D-Yu, I feel your pain. My Spanish teacher last year created a random “Project/Paper” category…worth 10% of our grade…in which everyone got a 0. Luckily, I squeaked by with an A- (i.e. 90%).

EDIT: Is anyone willing to argue /against/ gay marriage?

How about capital punishment? Or too much media influence?
The usefulness/value of “art” (or lackthereof)?

although i’m generally pro-choice, i can argue against gay rights. and A’s are all 92.5% and above in my school… i’ll be reallllly pi$$ed if i lose my 4.0 cuz of this nuerotic hitler teacher

Well, I’m against the institution of marriage all together, but in response to your question, we aspire to live in an egalitarian society, so all people should enjoy the same privileges.
Those against gay marriage make the claim that once members of the same sex can marry, the floodgates will open to people wanting to marry trees and animals because the definition of marriage will become blurred by the allowance of gays to marry. This is completely bull, obviously. We can all agree that marriage should be a commitment between two people who both are fully cognizant.

What I’m curious about is if more than two people can marry…I’m looking at you polygamy.

i really wish collegeconfidential operated in real time.

Yeah, the A- still hurt my GPA, but not as much as a B+ would…Can you complain to the principal or something D-Yu?

as so that email was from you Elmo. i was like ok essay, but who is this.

polygamy is people not wanting to freaking choose. and who in the world is gonna marry a tree?? and frankly if gay people want to marry more power to them, not like the divorce rates aren’t horrendous now. what harm can it do.

Hey, I’m reading a story on a site I frequent about Muslim taxidrivers denying a blindman’s dog to get into a taxi cab because it goes against one of the tenets of Islam which states that no Muslim can congregate with the filth of canines, or something or rather.
Anyway, my question is, where do personal beliefs end and service to society begin? Can the two even coexist in a rational world?

Hudson, you want to discuss polygamy?

Okay. I personally have nothing against polygamy as an institution, although I doubt I would ever consent to a polygamous marriage arrangement. My only concern would be that some people would build up harems and use the legality of polygamy to support/enforce fundamentalist ideals or to bring about those weird communal marriages (think Oneida) that impinge upon human “rights” (if you believe in them).

as far as that case goes, he is a freakin taxi driver he needs to keep that in mind. second, the guy was blind. that is a hot mess. i understand if you not qualified to do something, better but really. you had to see that coming.

Is anybody still here? Sorry, I ran off to get some cheesecake.

Cheesecake. mmmmmm
