Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

Hmmm, what is there to chat about?

Families, school, music, life…

Music sounds good. What are you listening to now?

The Man of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts by Sufjan Stevens. I only have a very few songs by him, but I’ve read some of his other lyrics and I am intrigued.

What are the Flaming Lips like?

Sufjan rocks. If you’re going to get an album, “illinois” is best in my opinion.
If you like him, you might like a female singer by the name of St. Vincent. She actually sings back up for him for most of his songs. Here’s a link(god, I love youtube) (:

[YouTube - St. Vincent - These Days (DUMBO Session)](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vxQs84FMWQ)

Ooh, I like it. Her voice reminds me of Feist in her slower songs. I wonder if she’s Canadian? I like that she doesn’t look like a rock star. Have you heard any Feist except 1234?

Only “My Moon My Man” and a couple others in my friends car, but I don’t know their names.
What do the Flaming Lips sound like…?
Without a doubt, they have the weirdest lyrics ever, but I can’t help but love them(my brother listened to them when i was younger, and since I idolized him, I copied everything he did. Now, they just feel so familiar to me, that I can’t imagine not listening to them.) Here’s a sample…

The video is really weird. (:

It’s fantastic. I love the slightly distorted sound and also his jacket.

[YouTube - The Pierces - Secret](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-2k0qaWCgU) This one’s catchy. Creepy carnival sounding and so fun!

The accordion does sound creepy, but i like the scratchyness of her voice. (:

I’m actually watching this old show called “the adventures of pete and pete” right now on youtube. Ever heard of it?

I used to watch it occasionally. Their mom had an iron plate in her head from some surgery or something right? The only episode I can think of now had this kid write an apology letter to her and stick it on with a magnet and then all this metal stuff would come flying at her head.

Watching all those old shows can be so fun. I have a bunch of friends who love Boy Meets World. It’s a great show.

That sounds like something that would happen in the show. (:
You weren’t one for kid’s tv? No lost secrets of the hidden temple for you?

Only occasionally. I always thought it was rather violent. That and GUTS. Not too appealing. I’m a delicate little thing.

I liked Clarissa Explains It All- I always wanted the kind of best friend who would just swing a ladder up to my bedroom window, climb up and climb in.

I thought a lot of cartoons were really ugly, stylistically. Like Doug? Hated it. Hey Arnold- awful styling, but I watched it anyway.

Excuse me!? How is it possible to not like Doug. he’s so likable.
Clarrisa was awesome. I just want her weird phone.

Come on, Donny. There was a green character with diagonal red hair jutting out from his head. A girl was named Patty Mayonnaise. Patty Mayonnaise!

Did you ever happen to watch a show called Carcaptors? I think it was on like, FOX WB when we were ten-ish, probably right before Digimon.

Yeah, I remember that! There was a floating little yellow thing right?

Sorry i was gone for so long, I was making a pb and J sandwhich.

Yeah, Keroberos! I don’t remember the Americanized version that well, but my sister has the Japanese version and it is ridiculously cuter and better. Also, everyone’s in loved with one another. It’s awesome.

The seventh food group, naturally. I’ve always wanted make a grilled PB&J. Have you ever had a grilled cheese with jelly inside?

This food talk is making me thirsty. I’ll be right back with some Ovaltine!

More Ovaltine, please!

Dear god, I’ve been brainwashed by those commercials.

Have i ever tried a grilled cheese and jelly…? I’m afraid, more like happy, to say “no.” Is it good?

I have an almost unhealthy love for milk. I’m daring osteoporosis to come near MY bones.

It’s really wonderful. It’s creamy and a little tart from the jelly, but sweet… It’s been theorized that you can make a grilled sandwich with any kind of bread, any kind of cheese and any kind of jelly and it’ll still be wonderful. My favorite is a nice melty mozzarella with raspberry jam or preserves on a crusty Italian bread… Mmm…

Ah yes, the bread/cheese/jam theory. Pioneered by none other than George Washington Carver himself.

I saw it on Food Network. They even claimed a pumpernickel/brie/pepper jelly combination was good… I’m slightly less radical.
