Haha, my connection to the nazis will never be revealed!

Yeah, I broke up with my gf in October, so I probably won’t be getting anything… :)

I actually do have a real “connection,” if you will, to the Nazis: My great grandmother on my mother’s side was a Polish Jew (living in Poland in the early 1940s), but apparently her husband was an incredible bridge architect. When the Nazis invaded Poland, they forced him to work for them as an architect. However, he somehow (through circumstances and methods that have never been revealed) managed to hide the rest of his family and eventually allow them a method of escape. So yeah, I came close to not existing. Thank God my great grandfather was a good architect!

The more you know…

hey there people

I’m really sick, it has nothing to do with my job today, but I’m almost positive it exacerbated my symptoms, so I’m staying home tomorrow. I both love and hate it. Love, because I get to do all the homework I can foresee for the next couple of days, and hate, because missing a day of junior year is like missing the day in the army when they tell you how to use your gun, you’re pretty much screwed.
Anyone else have this feeling, before?

oh yeah, sorry about being gone for so long, my mom had to do some taxes, which she tells me are important, and i’m pretty sure I can trust her.

all right! 4 people. now we can get this debate goin.

lol ive had that feeling before hudson. it is like another world when you come back. and when you are there nothing is ever happening. but i think something might be going around after all that storming and tornado hubbub. im all sniffle-y and lethargic.

All debate results are null and void seeing as I’m “under the weather.”
Or who knows? Maybe my being sick in relation to debating is similar to the effect of being inebriated is to the Drunken Monkey technique.

Unless somebody else has seen some kung-fu movies, that analogy was probably the most esoteric statement I’ve ever made.

wow well im too out of it to stay on. i was already late to school today, yes i know i start at 9:30 how is that possible. but i cant miss another day of school.
adios

I’m alive (but barely)! Is anyone else still here, or has there been a domino flight effect with panic’s departure? No! Am I outnumbered by men? Oh well, that’s okay. You’re all girly men anyway…

Okay, this really isn’t a debate topic, but I have a question that has been bugging me for quite some time now: which is more abstract, words, or pictures?

Words are more concrete because they provide a precise definition and usually results in a clearer concept in your head. Pictures are probably more fluid/open to interpretation.

Words are also more abstract because they don’t physically resemble or in any way represent the concept they define outside of cognitive locus. Pictures, on the other hand, more clearly depict physical reality.

Either way I see it, I’m right! What do you guys think?

on the topic of valentines day i think the concept is stupid. whats the point. people say “to show your love for someone.” if you love someone, wouldn’t you want to show it everyday? you need a holiday especially for displaying affection? come onnnn.

But how I loved those days in elementary school when everyone would buy holographic cards for each other and stuff their faces with candy! That’s what Valentine’s Day is really about. ;)

^^yeah, things are different when ur a little kid

Now Valentine’s Day has become some kind of elaborate and complicated social/mating ritual.

true that. since when did you have to get $50 a dozen roses or lumps of rock to show your love?

But lumps of shiny, sparkly rock! ;)

Why would anyone pay $50 for a bunch of dead plants anyway? Or $5000 for a shiny rock? I honestly don’t understand it at all, I even fail to see how they came to be considered “romantic,” and I would probably lose some respect for any guy (or girl) who believes that “things” like that significantly improve relationships.

Valentine’s Day, I suppose, it about setting aside time to devote fully to one’s significant other. Which is nice and all, but why all the greeting card fanfare and jewelry sales?

By the way, those Sweetheart candy things taste like chalk.

agreed. esp. since guys are the ones paying for all those cards, flowers, etc. :)

btw. then get chocolate

Haha. I would never /expect/ a guy to buy anything for me…at least not anything stupid and unreasonable. And I would never expect him to spend more money on me than I would on him. I’m very low-maintenance.

Okay, fine, I’m cheap!
And I still have a store of chocolate saved up from Christmas :)

Got any Valentine’s Day plans, D-Yu?

All right, I’m going to bed. I’m sure you’ll tell us all about your Valentine’s Day conquests tomorrow! As for me…nothing. I don’t have a boyfriend (not in four years–go figure; it must be my frigidness). Another evening of homework. Woo!

not really. we have to make spanish valentine cards in spanish tho’.

agghh… 10 seconds too late!
