Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

Spanish class is like reverting back to elementary school. One’s ability to communicate is very minimal, and the teacher reinforces this fact through pointless art projects and reading exercises. If I had school, no doubt we would be making Valentine cards in Spanish. And coloring them. We get points off if we color sloppily or use less than three different colors.
:P

i typed all of mine out, put clip art on them, and printed em off by the sheet on pink paper.

Clearly your class is more sophisticated than ours.

Anyway, this is officially good night. May you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day. Remember, girls can’t resist “Tickle-Me!” Elmo. (That’s not supposed to be dirty…)

Hey, everybody. I imagine I’m all alone on here, figuring that you all are at school. Valentine’s Day is stupid. You shouldn’t go to extremes to show your love for your significant other only one day outta the year. Everyday, he or she should know you would be incomplete without him or her.

I’m not at school –> mid-winter break
Seriously, no one else has a mid-winter break?

Valentine’s Day is another holiday that has been completely commercialized and lost almost all meaning it ever had. It makes people feel obligated to buy things to demonstrate their love…that’s not a display of affection, just a demonstration of how much money you’re willing to blow on a few sparkly rocks. If you really want to spend money on someone in a romantic way, do it when they’re not expecting it–surprise them on a seemingly mundane day. Don’t buy into the Valentine’s Day madness.

I have one, but mine’s next week. It’s nice- I can go swing dancing this Sunday because it’s not a school night!

There’s no such thing as a bad excuse for presents and affection, Fridge. People should make their loved ones feel special everyday, but for the masses who don’t think like we do, or who’ve just been caught in the mundane existance of life for too long to think with our naive, thoughtful outlook, I think it’s a good reminder to people to cherish those they care about. Plus, there’s always chocolate on sale, and let’s face it- Few months need chocolate as much as February does.

“let’s face it- Few months need chocolate as much as February does.”

What? I have no idea what you mean. (:
I got SAT scores back today. 1320/1950. I’m defiantly happy to have gone up, but I’m gonna force myself to do it again. ):
Anyone else get their scores back?

Of course you wouldn’t, Floridian. February and March are the crappiest months of the year. February is a month of freezing and melting. It’s gets real slushy and all your clothing below your knees is soaked, then it freezes so all the slush ruts turn into ice ruts. It’s slippery and very difficult to walk over. Christmas is over, the excitement of the New Year is over, you don’t have anything to look forward to except the joy of wearing only a light spring jacket in two months’ time, and it tends to be the coldest month of all where I live because the lakes have finally cooled down. February is miserable, hence it needs chocolate. (:

I haven’t taken the SAT proper yet. I need to in May, then subject tests in June. I hope I’m not cutting it too close if I get a sucky score…

sorry i disappeared for so long…yeah im doing the same, sats in may and subject tests in june. if i study enough so i dont have to take it again, i think i’ll be ok…

I liked V-day this year because in comp class we had a party and put valentines in our bags and ate chocolate covered strawberries. Let’s admit it, Valentines day is particularly patronizing to those of us withOUT special someones. I wouldn’t know, but maybe t’s good for couples to…embrace their couple-ness? and each other?

I took my SAT’s back in October. I got an 2110. My writing was atrocious, and I thought my math would be higher. I’m going to retake them in June, I think.

ahh sat’s are the devil. and donny arent you one motivated cookie. i took them once and i am satisfied with my scores. what creeps me out is im doing alot better than most of my friends they get like a 1500 for all three sections. :(

but yeah v-day was so annoying and commercial.

Yay, I got my scores back!

Math: 680
Writing: 750
Critical Reading: 800

Hooray! I’m so happy! 2230!

Oh yeah, and today was AMAZING! I got to sing singing telegrams to a bunch of people throughout the school day. I love embarrassing people…it’s so much fun!

Hella awesome job, SS!

SS your freaking amazing.

Wow, ss, you annihilated me. (:
If you don’t mind me asking, did you study at all? For my next one, I’m going to put my nose to the grindstone. It’s 1400 or bust.

At risk of sounding like an idiot, why are you guys taking the subject tests? I’ve never heard anyone I know put any emphasis on them for college admissions. Then again, everyone I know is shooting for UF(if you’re not a Floridian, you have no idea how much getting into the University of Florida is stressed to us natives), and I bet only schools like the ivies care about them.

JANUARY SAT SCORES CAME BACK TODAY  I DID REALLY WELL. I went up in CR and writing, and a little down in math. It was surprising because i thought it was HELLA hard and i was really close to canceling.

Personally, I’m not a believer in prep courses, and I totally took this one cold (my first time was in November, and I studied the two preceding weekends for that).

So at least that made my day  Although Valentine’s Day just went by blissfully unacknowledged…

some schools as for like two subject tests, one science one math. i guess it isnt like super necessary but it looks better.
and UF is so annoying. their website is hard to navigate and i dont remember if they want subject tests but like it is getting harder to get in so might as well have something on the other million florida kids trying to get in.lol.

A lot of very selective colleges look at them. You should definitely take them, even if you only might apply to a college that requires them- you don’t want to change your mind at the last minute and not be able to apply because you don’t have the scores, Donny.

cira hola!

I got the College Board Blue Book, read through all of the stuff in the front with test prep, and then took two practice tests, because it felt a little redundant (each one has SO many sections…). But I liked it because I knew that the SATs had very accurate difficulties.

I took US History last June, and I’ll be taking Molecular Biology and Literature this coming June. I would only take two, but of course my dream school, Princeton (which is totally out there, but what the heck, if I can’t dream then I have no shot), is one of the three colleges in the nation that requires 3 SAT IIs. Fun.

But yeah, I’d recommend taking them so that you don’t limit yourself during your senior year and end up doing a last-minute cramming session and doing worse on the test than you would have had you taken it at the end of this year.
