Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

I’m definitely “commended.” I scored a gentleman’s 198, which there is no way could take me to the semi-finals. Every states cut-off is above 200, at least for Semi-finalists.

Mls, I’d guess anything above 210 would be good for Florida, maybe even 205, seeing as we’re one of the dumbest states in the country.

Oh, to be in Florida, instead of in NY where 221 is a hovering question mark of deadness. This is a depressing topic; let’s debate something. I’m not sleepy anymore (I think I’m developing the sleep habits of an anaconda: sleep in the sun, swallow something large and indiscriminate, and slither about being spooky at night).

lol a “gentleman’s 198” lol cute. well then i hope we both get commended donny.

I think I’ll be an NMSF…I got a 224, and I’m in Minnesota, so it’s not exactly cutthroat…

As opposed to a lady’s 220 or a redneck’s 93.

I fear that living in Florida has ■■■■■■■■ my education.

I lived in the Northeast, more specifically, Connecticut, until I was ten, so I was able to obtain my fundamental education from the North, as well as my interest in reading(thank you J.K. Rowling and Brian Jacques).

I remember entering fifth grade in Florida, and we we’re just learning fractions, something I had learned in the third grade up north. As well, no one knew how to write cursive, which i had been taught since second grade.

porna your humor is on a stage of its own. but seriously new topic.
and my gosh i hate my nail polish ::proceeds to pick at a fingernail::

speaking for florida, what jacked up school did you go to???
i learned cursive way way way before fifth grade, i hated the stuff but i learned my scrawl. i was being introduced to LCD and stuff in fifth.

I think I’m the only person in my class that REMEMBERS how to write in cursive beyond a signature. I’ll fall into cursive when writing quickly because it’s more efficient to not lift your pen as often as you do in printing. Do any of you still have to write in cursive for anything?

mls, are you a Northern Floridian, or a Southern Floridian? I’m kicking it done here near Miami, so if you’re a Northern Floridian, you can pretty much call yourself a Georgian.

nope, and i have a horrible cursive writing. but then again my print is nasty so go figure. my signature is never the same.something significant always changes

naw im down in the dirty dirty. northern florida would be even slower i think…
and i do admit the south is slow, but ive met kids living up in the urban northeast who took in less than i have so whatever.

I’ll be back in an hour or so to harass you all. The steps machine berates me with taunts of the potatoes I had for dinner.

I think that moving to America ■■■■■■■■ my education.

Cursive —> all the endless third grade hours spent learning it! At least I make some use of it; my writing is a mezcla of print and cursive…kind of funky-looking. It always /looks/ so neat and tidy…yet is somehow barely legible.

Interestingly, my signature is practically print :P

where were you before wink. your indian right?

If I’m a little quiet, it’s because I’m doing homework. But I’m willing to stop for a debate, anyone got any ideas?

lol you’ll stop homework, something you’ll probably have to turn in, for a debate with semi-strangers. fantastic.

I don’t care about anything that won’t educate me, which the homework I’m doing right now falls into. I have no interest in Hyperbolas. They won’t change my life, or make me understand the world around me with more depth. Being able to plot the trajectory of a falling tree is not a skill I yearn to have.

and if a tree is falling towards your herd in deep springs??? you’ll regret that statement then!!!
lol j/k

Yes, I am Indian. :stuck_out_tongue:
I was born in Toronto and lived there for over 8 years.
For a country that seems to emulate America in every possible way (some refer to it as the 51st state), Canada somehow has a significantly better education system…

This is just a random thought:

Today in AP Psych we were reviewing ***** envy and castration complex (which are kind of bull, but whatever) and my teacher mentioned listening to a guy on National Public Radio about some guy who talking about the 9/11 attacks. He described the World Trade Towers as phallic symbols, in a sense: they represent the wealth/power/dominance of America, and this is partly why they were targeted (figuratively the balls of the country–even shaped like the literary definition of phallic symbols). When people saw them destroyed, it was as though the country were being castrated, stripped of its impentetrable dominance, its symbols of wealth and superiority. Some people refuted this was true…but when you think about it, and consider the new architectural designs proposed for the new towers, they’re not smaller, safer buildings, but even bigger. Hey guys, let’s make bigger phalluses and reassert our dominance! I described the theory horribly, but it’s an interesting idea. What do you guys think?

EDIT: I can’t believe they would edit out the word “p-e-n-i-s.” That’s just stupid.

I like the dominance idea, but that can be said of any sky scraper. I don’t agree with the phallic symbolism neither. All sky scrapers are made, or at least in part made, to show-off nowadays.

The Twin Towers were attacked because they were the biggest building in New York City, not, in my opinion, for being America’s slong.

yeah i see the idea and it makes sense, but to rebuild it smaller would seem stupid. like we are backing down and weaker than we were before. instead we make it bigger, better. we are america and we are strong he-man being. (though they call america a “Her” i think). i like the idea and it makes sense. that is why would not have hit a small target but something with meaning to the nation. landmarks are ideal.

and hudson maybe not the main one or the only one but in a way it was. all the significant ones in big, old cities like: chicago, new york, dc, boston ect.
