Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

there’ a whole world down in the ocean. filled with talking shrimp, and boys who call you back, but my breath won’t hold long enough

niice.i am officially hooked on a softer world

well, i’ll still be here for a while. elmo’s gotta type an essay

o what about elmo?
your goldfish

nah… crayons!
but really… huck finn and Mark Twain’s tone

i loved huck finn. though tom sawyer was an annoying prick.

what is your position?

on what? Tom Sawyer? <—IDIOT!

no for your essay. or is it more analysis?

its describe the change in tone that occurs halfway through the novel. compare and contrast the 1st and 2nd halves and discuss twain’s themes. SPARKNOTES SAVES THE DAY!!

ahh i see. i dont think i noticed a change in tone. whatever. night im being yelled at. :(

bye everyone see ya all tomorrow

Wakey wakey everyone! Time for some TASPing, boys and girls and in-betweens!

Gah, I want it to be March right now! whiiiiiiiiiiiiiine Waiting is p***ing me off. Someone distract me. How does everyone feel about abortion?

Pro-choice. I think Elmo might be pro-life, or at least leaning that way. He’s our little conservative.

Donny doesn’t believe that anyone has a right to life, let alone tiny clusters of cells chilling out in other people’s uteruses.

I think we’ve done abortion before.

I figured as much. So what topics haven’t you done?

Er… The relative merits of pirate and ninjas? Probably not quite what you’re looking for. Gay marriage, which probably won’t garner any opposition. I’m pretty interested in the ownership of information. Like, is knowledge a right or a privilege? Should scientists be forced to share their findings with other people in order to promote further advancements?

I doubt there’s anyone here who will say knowledge is a privilege; most of us go to public school. I have a less thought-provoking question, and it’s probably already been discussed, but I’d like to know: What are you all doing this summer if TASP falls through?

Crying, probably. Can’t exactly afford to go anywhere else, and there’s not much available in my area. Volunteering? Getting a job, most likely. I might be able to take classes at a college somewhere, but that’ll be expensive, and there’s always the problem of actually getting there.

If I don’t make it, i’m gonna keep on working in the mall at my nut stand. It’ll suck though, because everyday, I’ll think of nothing but TASP as I sit glazing nuts. Also, I’d like to help build animal shelters, if it’s at all possible.

Now I feel like I’ve got a real good question: Is technology beneficial or detrimental to mankind?

I guess i’m too quixotic for my own good, because I believe that a large bulk of technology has taken away the mysteriousness of the world. Once upon a time, dirigibles coasted across the sky, providing breath-taking scenery of mountain peaks and verdant pastures to their passengers. Now, airplanes rush through the upper atmosphere with windows the size of dinner plates and in-flight movies to distract their passengers.

Donny! You actually sit there glazing nuts? Cool.

Most definitely not cool. More like…mind-bending boredom.
