If your “true self” doesn’t change a d*** thing in the universe, then why is it important? If you don’t change anyone else’s life, then why are you important? Why are you more eternal than a leech? It may be “true”, but I don’t care about it if it has no importance.

I was merely correcting your idiocy. Honestly, Elmo. She doesn’t capitalize, apostrophize, or give a crap about it.

…Is apostrophize a word? Outside of this thread, anyway? And leave Elmo alone; his is the only nickname I can remember.

actually, i finished those. working on Huck Finn essay now

huh. why’s that porna?

We can’t live our lives outside ourselves, Porna. If your true ego matters to you, especially if there’s no heaven or hell or any way of knowing what’s going on on earth when you’re gone, then it’s important. Wanting to live on in a false self created for the public is pure vanity. It’s better to be happy with your inner self in the off-chance there is an afterlife after all, and you’re kind of stuck with yourself for all of eternity.

No, it’s not at all. I made it up on the spot and I like it. I’m Cira, short for Velociraptor, because I’m short, fierce (occasionally), and I can open one door in five minutes, and half that time for each succeeding door. (: It’s a webcomic thing.

my true self is true because i am who i am with no one around.
say maybe the notice self, or the perceived self. cuz baby i could dance on a stripper’s pole and be a writing like shakespeare at home under the name “dr dolittle”. which is the “TRUE” me?

and though cira’s comment was a bit stinging to me, i must agree. ( a comma is occasional, why type properly on a thread for strangers??)

have you ever wondered why you’re you and not someone else? like why in the world weren’t you born in cambodia or something?

You do not have to live with yourself for eternity if you die. If we assume there is no afterlife (as is proper), then your “false self” has the greatest implications in the physical world, which may be the only world there is. Although this does remind me of a debate I’d done about how it’s a safer bet to be Christian than Jewish, which I can explain if someone mentions it again.

I’m sorry, I was really hoping not to offend you, I was just trying to make a point.

Well, who gives a crap about the physical world if you’re not there anymore? It’s not like you can check in and see what the public’s opinion on you is.

porna when all those people who knew your “true” self die, who are you then?
what significance do you have?
anyone who supposedly knew you is dead.

You say my perceived self doesn’t matter because I’m the only one that knows it, but what makes my self perceived by the rest of the world so great? What makes that one “right?”

It’s about quality not quantity. It doesn’t matter how many people perceive me, it’s about how i perceive myself, because only I know my “true self.”

I can’t not be argued witch one is better, because each have separate merits. One is your connection to the world. The other is your connection to yourself.

And with that, I’m out. Night to all.

jews dont believe in hell, right?
and you speak of the afterlife as if it is a gamble.

lol. this reminds me of a garfield comic.
John: have you ever wondered whats the purpose of life Garfield?
Garfield : to eat
John: why am i here?
Garfield : to buy food
John : what is my purpose?
Garfield : to feed the cat

Panic: You’re no one. Everyone is no one, in the end. The afterlife is a gamble; it’s safer to be Christian because Judaism believes that all but the worst criminals will eventually go to Heaven after penance. Christianity states that none but a chosen few will be saved from Hell, and that everyone who doesn’t follow Christ properly will go to Hell. Therefore, it’s safer to be Christian because if you’re right, then you’re right, and if you’re wrong and Judaism is right, then you do penance and go to Heaven anyway.

Hudson: That one actually makes a difference. The inner self makes no difference at all.

Earil: On that argument, the “fake” self would be equally as important or as unimportant as the “true” self, which is a reasonable comprimise.

lol, funny elmo.

and cira thx for turning me onto xkcd (down porna, i can imagine your retorts), it is so great. though most of his math references are over my head.

Bwahaha. I declare a lovely tie then. I’m off to bed and recuperation, hopefully.

MLS- You get a high five for that.

Actually, now I need to get some people to like A Softer World with me. Check it out. I’m sure you can guess the website.

just to be sure it is a blog type thing?

It’s kind of a webcomic… It’s photography with thoughts attached. Sometimes funny or beautiful or random. Occasional zombie or alien references to lighten things up. It’s fun.

o i see it now. cuz at first i though the one funny picture at top was permanent.
it seems funny enough.

Really going to bed, as I feel a little lightheaded. Goodnight, all! Enjoy going to school, most of you.
