You don’t need a law to say something is legal. No government’s going to pass a law that says breathing is legal. Why? Because if you had to legalize breathing, and all the other stuff we do that government’s usually don’t circumscribe, the legal code would approximate the size of the Encyclopedia Galactica. If it’s not prohibited by law, it’s legal.

Uh, it’s an internet forum. We’re a bunch of stupid teenagers. Connotations are totally allowed.

and this is not a court counselor porna, connotations are viable because they very well can explain a person’s reaction.

and i agree cira i do. and how do we end up ganging up on donny. i think it is the porna effect. last time is was elmo (d-yu). what happened to asking for donny’s forgiveness porna?? lol.

The superego is your “social” self. it’s who you are when you interacting with other people. For almost everyone, this identity is different from the ego, also known as the “true self”

The id is all of your baser instincts. It’s basically the tiny voice that says cheat, lie, etc. it’s not considered evil, only “uncivilized instincts”

The ego is the meeting between the two, with the superego being a bit stronger. It is your true identity. Whatever you only do when your alone is a part of that self.

This is a very vague and low on detail crash course.

This is Porna’s court, and Porna doesn’t support connotations unless they amuse her (i.e. they’re dirty).

Hee. “The Porna Effect” - I have my own syndrome. Now all I need is a magical physics textbook and all my dreams will have come true.

As far as I’m concerned, superego and true ego are the same thing. Personality is only a perception; if you were born and lived on an island all alone, you would have no personality because there would be no one to compare yourself to. You can’t have a personality without other people to enforce it.

Ayn Rand is a staunch Objectivist, so it makes sense that she doesn’t have an ego.

As established by the “rights” debate earlier, I don’t take anything for granted, porna. If somebody says the sky is blue, I don’t agree until i go outside. Some people call this “paranoid.”

So you don’t do anything by yourself that you wouldn’t do in a crowd of people, porna? You never dance in the shower or sing off-key your head? You are completely “you” with or without people? No offense, but I call BS.

Before porna, you said everyone was operating under the notion that not legal= illegal and not illegal= legal. I don’t accept the assumption that all things are either one of two options: legal or illegal. Some things never enter into the discussion, such as, like I said, getting a haircut. It’s my idea that suicide should be one of these things.

so what are 4 girls (fridge, porna, mls, cira)?

i mean seriously, look - cira - short for velociraptor. fridge - for her icy heart. mls - previously known as grammar nazi. porna - well, we’ve all seen what she’s like…

The only “you” that counts, sweetheart, is the one that the world percieves. If I sing in the shower, it is not part of my important self. If we assume that there is no Heaven or Hell, then the most important “self” is the one that is remembered after we die, because that “self” is the longest to last. I may strip butt-naked (censor that, CC) and dance the conga, but it isn’t part of my true self because it isn’t written down in the mind of anyone else. Work which is written is most important; unwritten work dies with the writer.

If Hudson writes a Shakespearean work in his head and then dies, does it matter? Does it change anything? Is it important to the human race?
