Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

What kinds of scary things do you do Earil? ;)

I don’t do enough, that’s for sure. I applied to TASP, which is scary as hell. I survive international airports all alone, just barely catching flights because of shoddy TV screens. I let myself like boys, which is very scary. I even called heart-breaker boy, which was terrifying. I feel like I should start bridge jumping or taking long walks on my own at night, or using public transport or spending time in Buffalo (it’s a pretty bad town…). I live a not very scary life and I’m kind of sick of it. So most of these things aren’t too scary, but they’re scary enough for me.

does no one on this thread feel like they are toeing the scary line enough?

Ah, Thanatos.

I don’t mind the thrill of scary things, but I wouldn’t put myself in a dangerous situation.
I haven’t done much that is scary–most of those things happened in childhood (riding a bike, rollercoasters, overcoming fear of bugs, etc.). Of course, I did learn how to drive a car…or maybe that was more scary for my /parents/…

…We’re CC junkies. What are the odds that we have any real problems whatsoever?

i would except i lead an exceptionally boring life. very little danger.

My biggest problem is homework. High school is a b*tch.
So no, I don’t have any /real/ problems either.

haha I’m not exactly the rebellious type wink! I’ll think about it.

I hate scary movies! they freak me out and give me nightmares.

No real problems. It inspires devious thoughts. I want to be the trouble I want to see in the world. If I don’t, I’m pretty sure I’ll fall further into the trap of materialism and mindless entertainment. I’d rather enjoy my life by living it, not by shopping it and watching other people do things on TV.

Actual biggest problem: addiction to CC (this should be classified as a clinical disorder)

Alamode, really? I find most scary movies to be stupid and not scary at all…I just laugh at the absurdities. Unless they’re really gory. Then I just feel sick.

ahh that’s from A Softer World!!!
school and getting into college, no real problems.

I kind of feel useless, that’s my only problem. Lonely sometimes. No one to share my stupidest, innermost thoughts with… Like I’ll never do anything significant with my life. I don’t know if I will or not. I really want to. I probably won’t.

Human existence in general is useless…Aaahh! Existentialist crisis!
My future essay for TASP was all about how I wasn’t prepared to accomplish anything.

sometimes i wonder if this was all like the matrix. like do i exsist is some kid’s world. what is that kid thinking right now. what if one day i woke up and i was in a pod. if i concentrated really hard would my couch turn different colors. if i stopped right now, what would happen.

Wasn’t it some Taoist or Confucian philosopher that asked, “Am I a man dreaming that I am a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming that I am a man,” or something like that?

Maybe we’re all part of a computer game and are all characters being controlled by some larger universal/god-figure embodiment/player, and he/she is just messing with our lives.

I actually had this really weird theory a long time ago (a loooong time ago) that all of us are different aspects/personalities of the same person…

Some of us are the id…
Others the ego…
And, of course, the superego…

Or maybe totally separate personalities, as in MPD/Sybil Dorsett.

or like if i were to sit down and manipulate someone, were they really manipulating me and not telling me. and on and on like that.
so each personality manifests itself in a different “person” so we are all parts of one big mental defective?

I’m just kind of glad that my greatest conflict is internal. Having a fairly happy, normal family and food and clothing and shelter is really awesome. I wish I knew more about quantum physics.

When your real problems consist of CC/college insecurity, every-man-in-your-friend-group-turning-gay (thank you very much, John. I swear, he’s recruiting on purpose. Of course, the fact that we’re all yaoi fangirls to a degree doesn’t help), having no chance with your lovely Jewish lad, and Physics, you are certifiably an upper middle class spoiled brat.

FOUR DAYS TIL CALLING!!! SQUEEEEEEEE!!! EEEE!

panic - I don’t know what I was thinking, I was in elementary school at the time. But it is a pretty crazy theory. Essentially, yes, we are all different manifestations of a broad, universal/cosmic “personality” (not necessarily a physical person)
