Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

Well ‘I’ wish that I was an Animorph, but we don’t all get what we want.

Seriously, if you had a choice between being whisked off to Hogwarts or being an Animorph, which would you pick?

They said 900 in the brochure. No, the odds are worse than Harvard, and it’s a very self-selecting group anyway. We’re competing with the best juniors in the nation, all.

Hogwarts. …Assuming, you mean that I had latent magical powers that just randomly decided to crop up. Because that would be awesome. I just hope Hogwarts would have financial aid…

Hogwarts, hands down.

You’re all lame. Being an Animorph would rock the sheets. You’d actually be valuable to saving the Earth from parasite slug-like icky thingies with telekinesis.

(and just so you know, Jmed, “rocks the sheets” is Porna for plain old “rocks”).

hogwarts, magic owns.

You take the magic road and I take the Animorph road and we’ll all eat pudding in the morning.

Squeee! I want interview news nooooooowww!

Out of approximately 950 applicants, about 180 are given an interview with members or associates of the Telluride Association as well as TASP alumni. Admission is very competitive: in recent years, fewer than 10 percent of TASP applicants have been admitted. This year, a total of 68 students will be admitted to the four TASPs.

i have no idea how old those stats are but yea. cutthroat people cutthroat.

It might rock the sheets if you were a particularly sexy animal…

I’ll be back in fifteen minutes.

Thanks for the heads up…that’s what I figured, Porna. :-P

those numbers scare me. and i guess what they’re looking for all depends on who applies.

Since 68 will be admitted, I propose we call the TASPers on this thread The 68. It’ll be like flushing an ice cube down the toilet for an ice day (like a snow day, except more dangerous!).

for an ice day??
:: southern brain breaks down ::

Ooh, pretentious. It’s a little frightening. I’m going to go be superstitious and ritualistically slaughter chickens or something. Or shower. Whichever.

Panic, it’s when there’s an ice storm, usually… Lots of power lines down from the ice build up and the roads are very nearly un-traversable because they’re so slippery.

I don’t want to jinx it.

But snow days are lovely!

Well FINE. ‘I’ am going to call us The 68 and jinx it for all of you, so there!

8 minutes 'til the new ep of Make Me A Supermodel. I watch the seasons change by reality competition shows. Top Chef = Spring (or in last year’s case, late fall). America’s Got Talent = Summer. Solitary = Fall. Project Runway = Winter.

i agree with the sensible ones. lol. im just a bit superstitious.

last year it was around 900 people, and 180 got interviewed. i think 86 was the final number. 16 kids at both of the cornell seminars, and then 18 per seminar for the other three. don’t think about the numbers, because it will only depress you. right now the best you can do is relax, and after interview notifications read over your essays and be prepared to defend every argument you have, and possibly rethink some of them as well.

haha same here. and i’m off to write a stupid paper for English…goodnight!

Gah, interviews. The madness. The madness.

I’m off to spontaneous combust for the night. FINALLY!

fwoom!

am i alone??
