Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

I’m interviewing with Cynthia Cupples this Sunday at her house in Laurel.
What would your recommend in terms of dress?
Are slacks/polo/loafers good or should I add a dress-shirt/tie in to be safe?

Thanks!

WOOT! Finished me interview today! : ) Very happy. I think it went fairly well…I think. hahah. I kept having to ask, “and…uh…where was I?” but other than that…it went relatively smoothly - I mean, no major break downs and traumas : )

I’m interviewing tomorrow and I have no idea what to wear!!! (I’m a guy!)
I’m interviewing at a private home. Will slacks and a tie be too formal???

Thanks!

Nah, I think a tie and slacks would be fine. Jacket might be a bit much for a private home. I’d say go formal, that’s what I did.

i went casual just to stay comfortable…but i had the interview at school. Did anyone else choose Cornell II as their first-ranked seminar?

We’re getting closer! Only ~2 weeks at this point, and luckily for me they’re going to be extremely hectic.

Yes I did, most of the people on here had Cornell 2 as their first choice…

two questions to everybody:

 1. anybody still have to get interviewed?
 2. what were your choice rankings?

I’m getting really really anxious. Before my interview, I was like, “yeah! it’d be awesome if I could get into TASP! I’ll just make sure to do well on my interview! ladedadedahhh” and now the interviews over, I still feel like, “it’d be awesome if I could get into TASP!” but instead of having something I can personally do to influence the final result, now all I can do is wait. Wait and worry that I won’t get in. I worry because I didn’t think my essays or interview were phenomenal. I worry because I don’t even know if I DESERVE to be in TASP (though I sure as hell hope I do, and have faith in myself, just not the sort of self-assured confidence that I’m exactly what they’re looking for, hands down). Maybe I’m just feeling less confident now to prepare myself for the possibility of a rejection letter, but this is really eating me :[

Sorry for the long and probably pointless post-- just had to vent to people who probably understand my plight :[

and personally for the two questions

 1. obviously, my interview’s done
 2. 1- UMich/2-Cornell II/3-UT Austin/4- Cornell I

I remember that someone has their interview on the 18th, so we still have a few to go.

Yeah baby! UMich rocks the sheets. The only seminar that I can’t remember anyone putting first (anyone who made the essay cut, anyway) is UT Austin.

No, man, I TOTALLY understand. Now that I’m done with my interview and everything, I really really want to get in…hahah, why couldn’t I have had this zeal BEFORE the interview??

I wish I could get this destructive zeal off me so a rejection would not crush me entirely

Cornell II, UT Austin, UMich, Cornell I

same preference high five

cornell II, U mich, Cornell I, then UT Austin. at this point, i don’t care which one they throw me in…as long as I get in

I’m with you on that one. My interviewer goes “So if you get placed into Cornell I, would you still say yes?” And I practically interrupted her and said “Yes!!!” Haha all of them seem so cool…grrr give me that letter!

i still have not had my interview. more time to prep, but also more time to worry. D:<

My interview was different than all of yours, it seems. We barely even mentioned the reason that we were there; it was like, “Hey, are you Blankety-Blank? Hi. Okay, time for Essay One.”
(55 minutes later) “And that’s all we have to ask about Essay Five. Okay; any questions?”
I ask about which TASP seminars they went to. One of my interviewers apparently went to a seminar that he described as (exact words) “a study of porn in literature”, which was about the human body.
“Any other questions?”
“Umm…no. Just so you know, I really, really want to go to TASP.”
“Okay. Is there any place we can get dinner around here?”

I also had really young interviewers. I think they were both seniors at Cornell, but one might’ve been a junior. The woman interviewer (the one that didn’t go to the porn seminar) had a British accent. But yeah; we didn’t talk about TASP AT ALL. Not even a little. Essay, essay, essay, go up the street to get sushi. The end.

(despair slump) I wanna goooo…

My interview was almost entirely about why I want to study economics and agricultural subsidies. We didn’t touch my critical analysis or book list. I don’t know that they’d have enough to judge me on for any other program BUT Cornell II.

I hope that’s a good thing haha

had mine today!!

It was cool i think, we only got to my first two essays and then we ran out of time, so that could be good or bad i dunno.

we talked about the good in mankind and our education system, they were really cool people and made me feel very comfortable. Now for the wait lol!

Is it unheard of for someone to choose not to do TASP is they get selected for a specific program? (COUGH COUGH CORNELL I)
