Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

Is there an official date for their notification letters??? I’m going insaneeeeeee

If you feel better… Its the 28th not the 30th according to both my and a few people’s interviewers I know.

As far as seminar placement etc. When they are crafting the seminar groups they put a lot of thought and effort into the people they place into the programs. They focus a lot on community and looking at what the individuals will bring to the seminar experience. Obviously preference plays a factor but your interviewer’s evaluation is only a part of what the final committee and teams review between now and when we find out.

Aida’s explication is pretty thorough and as far as letter grades and rankings and all that stuff goes that is your best bet.

uh, i’m new and i happened to stumble upon this thread. Like most of you, I’m crapping my pants as the TASP decision looms nearer. Can anyone describe what actually “goes down” at a program like TASP? What makes the experience so special?

We disarm nuclear weapons and use their parts to build playgrounds for underpriviliged inner-city penguin children with skin cancer.

Read the TASP 2007 threads.

(bug eyes) The 28th? That’s in not-3-weeks! Ahhhh!

Seriously; I am SO head-over-heels for TASP. Not to mention that since my only other not-lifeguarding-or-manual-labor summer option is a well-paid internship that students from 10 counties compete for…“I really need this job, please God I need this job, I’ve got to get this joooobbbb high note”

Are there any other musical buffs left standing after the essay round? I desperately want someone to recognize that lyric; it will make me feel less alone in the universe.

Hahah, I know close to nothing about songs, but classical - oh yeah. I am the music (yes, hardcore dorky MUSIC) nerd. If I get accepted, I shall probably lug my whole 10 ounce worth of flute along and annoy you all to death with my playing ; )

Anyone else considering bringing their instrumental children along??

WAIT - so 28th or 30th? I keep hearing both…

Not music. MusicAL. There’s a difference. Musical buffs camp out for tickets to Wicked or Les Mis and are almost all female, gay, or female AND gay.

Oh I see (hahah - I really don’t…oh ha…ha…sigh) Does watching Wicked and being in our MOST AMAZING SCHOOL PRODUCTION of Les Mis count (I was a whore hahah - not much of vocal talent in me)?

CHORUS LINE FTW!!! =D

Les Miserables is amazing too! I’m could be missing out on my school’s summer production for TASP

I actually wrote one of my essays on Sondheim and his impact on musical theatre.

(sigh) Spring break for me is in 2 days and I’ll spend it DOING things. Bleep you, track-coach-who’s-having-us-practice-every-day and Envirothon-team-who-I-have-to-write-all-our-study-material-for. Bleep you to somewhere bad.

I’m going to go play Wyvern (online RPG) and not study for my Physics test tomorrow. So there. :stuck_out_tongue: (Oh God, I’m using text faces. Everything’s going terribly, terribly wrong. Happy thoughts; TASPy thoughts!)

Was anyone else interviewed by the West Coast interview panel in Glendale? Do you happen to remember the names of the interviewers? One was Cameron Jones, but I forget the lady’s name…I want to send them some kind of thank you letter after the final notifications are sent, even if I don’t make it in.

Yeah, similar note. Anyone else go to Goldman Sachs in the city with Michael Millete and Jan Ford? I was there this afternoon.

ooh, me! me!
were you the one i saw, who said “good luck” on the way out?

A real life CC siting? Oh-em-gasp!

I just had a very tiring recycley-environmenty afternoon, BUT…it’s spring vacation here! AHHHHHHHHHH! AHHHH. Ah. I have stuff to do all week. Crap. But AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Ahem. A question for interview-ees. Dress is casual right? I know it depends on the place, but if we’re meeting in a coffee shop inside a bookstore, it’s just casual dress, no?? My parental units are attempting me to go semi-formal atleast (ie jeans+formal black shirt). I don’t want to. Hmph. Anyone to validate my position? ; )

OMG YEAH! THAT WAS ME! AHAHA
Craaaaaazzy…Woah…super weird

Uhm, I was super formal…but my interview was also at a big business place. Coffee shop though? hmmmm. Personal opinion is that it won’t REALLY matter.

I wore cordurouys, a collared shirt, and a sweater. It was really low-key though. Just be sure to shower and brush your teeth!

Lol. i wore a suit only because its either that or jeans and a tshirt. I have no in between.

Same as sherlock. I wore a nice shirt with dress pants and dress shoes, but I guess a coffee shop in a bookstore doesn’t require formal dress. Honestly though, it doesn’t hurt to wear a nice shirt with jeans, persay. Just make sure you look clean and crisp. I’m sure what you say is a bajillion times more important than what you’re wearing, anyways (especially in a coffee shop).

I was actually going to say it wouldn’t hurt to wear a nice shirt, but you were asking for someone to back you up. =P
