Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

UMich!

Lol, I thought emails didn’t come out until Wednesday, but this works too!

YES! Who else is going to Cornell I? PM me!

Did anyone make a facebook for UMich yet?

Hey, any Cornell II TASPERs come join the Facebook group, TASP 2008: Cornell II !!!

Good job all!! I called this morning at 10:03amEST and somehow got through, but Ellen forced me to secrecy. I got into UT and really wanted to tell everyone, but she said “please don’t get online and tell everyone” hahahaha

ps–that UT austin group is mine! Join!

UT!!! How many people get into each?

^I think its like anywhere from 16-20

18 to UT Austin and Michigan, 16 apiece to Cornell.

Wow. I’m really, really, really, really excited.

hmm.

what happens to the waitlisted? anyone?

i’d assume for every acceptee who declines, they either draw randomly from the waitlist pool or have some kind of pecking order set up and pick from the top of that list (that’s a bit freaky).

hey, i’ve totally been lurking on this thread…well not exactly lurking, but i just checked it today after getting in. So i got into TASP UMich, and I made a facebook group for it, but you can’t find it if you search for it. If you PM me, then I can tell you my real name so you can look me up (on facebook), then look in my groups for the TASP group. I’m soo excited to get to know everyone!

a word about all the facebook groups–
i messaged roamorse with some questions, who was unbelievably helpful and friendly, and she gave a word of advice i definitely agree with…

“also, word to the wise, i would definitely refrain from talking
extensively with your other TASPers before you get there. one big part
of TASP is not knowing what to expect until you get there, and not
knowing your other TASPers is quite exciting.”

so a group is okay, i guess, but maybe we should hold off until TASP itself to start getting to know eachother and all? i dunno.

Facebook for UMich created!!!
we need to rock other seminars!

Another waitlistee. We’re stuck in purgatory :(

I’m pretty sure there’s an order for the waitlist, because I was told that my ranking on the list would not be given to me.

lol t_rent, I didn’t read your comment so I created another Facebook group :))

Lol. So although I agree that excitement and diversity should certainly be integral parts of our upcoming TASP experience, I personally have few caveats about making our preliminary acquaintances now, via the wonderfully time-wasting medium of facebook. I don’t feel like the experience will be diluted by getting to know each other early-- i feel like it would be starting the whole process of realizing all of the craziness and the amalgam that will be TASP UM, just a bit early. anyways, it’s up to y’all what you want to do =)

ah, si enneige. i will look for that ahora.

i can’t find your group? i swear there’s something wrong with the facebook group-making thing. this could mean… a revolt to myspace?! no, unthinkable. lol.

So, I found this on the UT Austin TASP 08 Group, from one of the factota:
All of the factota at all the sites this summer decided that it would be best if TASPers did not try to network with each other before the program. There are a couple of reasons for this, including accessibility and fairness for those who do not have regular internet access. We also want the TASP community to be able to form from the beginning with everyone in the same place and able to speak in person. It appears that this request was left out of the official acceptance letter. So if you could let those who have joined the group you formed know that we are discouraging such networking, I’d greatly appreciate it.
So, that settles that =)
