Yeah, I’m flying in from California, so the flight itself isn’t 10 hours, but I’ll be in crazy layovers in Philadelphia AND Las Vegas on the voyage, so I’ll have plenty of time.

I’ve got my Pubspeak in the second week. I have NO idea what to talk about…

UTers haven’t gotten anything yet…the holy text that is the Letter says that the factota will “give the first two PubSpeaks according to the schedule determined at the first House Meeting; TASPers will sign up for all other slots.” So we get to see our factota speak first =]

Has anyone else been through the frustrating and completely exhausting ordeal of trying to explain what TASP is?

“What are you doing this summer?”
“TASP.”
“What’s that?”
“It’s like…um…africanhistoryhollywoodbutnotextbooksorclassespersaykindajustpublicspeakingphilosophytexasfrathousetotallyfreetookmesixessaysandaninterviewtogetinimsoexcited…yeah. Google it.”
“…that’s cool. I’m helping orphans in third world countries.”

i got out of school on may 30 and have been explaining tasp to college interviewers ever since. it’s substantially easier than telling people our age about it. i just use the phrase “telluride association” and they all prick up their ears and start salivating. i may become a show poodle in order to receive less semi-creepy attention.

in other news, my guidance counselor decided to give me an award for getting into tasp at our already unbelievably long, butt-petrifying award ceremony. she had the presenter read what must have been a press release from telluride-- it was at least a page long. afterward i wanted to apologize to all of the people whose glutei maximi had grown extra numb during the random unnecessary speech.

have austin people gotten anything? i’m languishing for a response, any response, from a mere two states away. anyone flying out of phoenix, for any seminar? we should commune. or any taspers at national history day this week?

SUPER IMPORTANT THING I FORGOT: is the laundry in the sorority house free?

When my counselor, who happens to be my english teacher as well, heard that I made it she said: Wow… but did you read my recommendation? ( probably thinking: it should have been impossible for you with my crappy rec. grrrrr)

i did all of my visits in a grand total of two weeks, may 31-june 13. 14 schools in 14 days.

really hoping here that there are taspers at natl history day. i’m getting a definite telluride vibe from it already and i don’t want my nascent tasp-sense to be wrong even now.

I’m getting worried about the physical. I only found out last wednesday that a spot opened so I’m sure it’s understood that it might take a while to get the forms in, but aaah, seriously. TASP starts next Saturday and my physical is tomorrow, which only leaves a couple of days to get a whole bunch of tests and results done.
