Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

Ha, I love xkcd!

Debate? Globalization or Isolation? Would humans be better off as one country, as many hyper-globalists predict/want, or as tiny, distinct countries(like we are now).

Squealing!!! XKCD > My life!

Would calling ourselves one country really change anything? It would all be civil war instead of international, but still.

Cira, you think we are prone to violent behavior?

We’d have one giant mega-bureaucracy of commo-fasco-monarcho-democrats?

Sounds like fun.

i think we might as well stay how we are cuz then people (racists) would have problems with people. plus war would be easier that way i think. or are we talking from scratch, like pangea (sp) stayed together?

and nickname totals:
panicpower- my little socialist
sthudson- don juan
earil-cira
wink-fridge or frigid

I think that we all have problems with other groups of people, and unless there is a sincere unity behind the unification of the world into one country, it won’t change much except government and taxes.

Never mind physicalities. The question really was are we better of as one community or separate communities. MLS, I thought you would totally be for one nation.

Let’s just say we are on Pangaea.

that sounds about right. dramatic change does nothing if its not done with sincerity. we might as well stay as we are. why change after all this time.

I think it would cause a lot of governing problems. There are a lot of different governments out there doing things differently. Either the central government would have to physically take over, or they’d have to let each province govern itself, so we’d be one nation in name only.

Okay, further clarification. Imagine you were making the world and you have a million people. Would you put everyone together as one group are split them up into different groups. What form of organization would be better for mankind? Is the question too theoretical?

ok throw out reality. yeah pangaea hecks yeah i’m for that. can you imagine we all generally look the same, we’d really have to work for racism (though i think we would find it, people are troublesome that way) it would be really big but it would be one big ass thing. i like different cultures but i dont like them when they promote, (for lack of a better word) segregation or exclusion.
one love, one people!

Even if we could get all nations to agree to unify under one flag, a massive nation requires a massive government. It would probably get pretty ugly pretty fast.

EDIT: I guess this post is no longer relevant…

What level of technical development do they have? Modern day, ancient,…? Are they like culturally blank?

earil: with the technology today governing over a large area could be easier depending on how technology is used.

Kiddies, fight amongst yourselves cause I’m outs. D-yu needs a nickname, btw.

Need I say that I’ll be back tomorrow?

This post is also irrelevant BUT:

Maybe someday we’ll come up with some scientific invention to control tectonic plates and push them back together. You know how we humans like to fiddle with nature.

yawn That’s enough for one night. Bye guys.

night don juan

oh but the climate change could be devastating.

We know you can’t resist spending some valuable e-time with all the ladies, Donny. We know we’ll have you crawling back for more.

If you don’t mind, MLS, I think it’s time for night-night for Cira as well.
