So the people receiving notification for interview will receive the emails at the exact same time, am I right? Will it be a couple hours different?

^ Thanks. All these posts about freaking out made me think the notifications would come out soon. Well i guess some would consider a little over a week to be soon lol.

I have no idea. I was sort of an early bird from what I remember. I think the offical ones come out at the same time-ish though.

A little over a week and a half is very, very soon. If anything, this process will make you realize just how fast time flies.

And yeah, may I emphasize the whole not bombarding them with calls/emails thing. I swear a few of us '09ers are on some sort of hidden Telluride ****-list because of that. Hah.

Wow, this process is going by fast. 1.5 weeks until interview notifications!

@Obstinate - What date was your interview scheduled? When did you receive a notification telling you you actually got into the program? Can you post what the letter said?

Mine was on March 26th. It was a short hour question and answer thing. No pressure.

I got one on March 4th. It was just a reply from Ellen saying that I did receive an interview. I had the original letter, but I forgot where I put it. Never got the official email.

Yowch. Since they send out rejection notices later we’ll all be quivering in suspense. I’m already quivering in suspense.

justcall them on march 2nd

There’s a block of time during which interviews take place, so don’t worry about not being able to attend yours if you have a conflict. Your interviewer(s) will work with you for both time and place of the interview.

I ended up driving an hour to the closest major city with Telluride interviewers, but most people who live in or near cities have it a little easier. Mine was about an hour and a half of casual conversation in a noisy coffeeshop, nothing too painful.

embeezy - Did you interview in Baltimore? I did mine in Philly, and it wasn’t too painful–certainly not like the horror stories I had heard beforehand.

Can previous TASPers tell us about their interviews? I’m just curious to know what kind of questions were asked outside of questions pertaining to your essays.

And I’d like to know about these ‘horror stories’ that you mentioned, KxA.

Ha, yeah Keil, it was in Baltimore. Remember, the self-proclaimed redhead? Last year, a lot of former TASPers gave us the impression that the interviews would be incredibly grueling, that we’d leave them in tears or completely distressed (at least that’s what I gathered in my neurotic state). Though the interviewers do ask some tricky questions related to your essays, they don’t want to make you miserable. The purpose of the interview is to see the real you, to expand on your views presented in your essays, and to paint a better picture of what you have to offer for Telluride. Fear not!

My interview was very relaxed, and in a coffee shop as I mentioned earlier. The interviewers started out by telling me about their experiences at TASP and explaining the program in more detail, then they asked me about my school, my family and background, my job/volunteer work, and my essays. We didn’t cover every essay, and didn’t even touch the book list. But that’s just my experience–other peoples’ were completely different. Don’t worry about it, really! Honestly, my interview was more of an intellectual conversation than an interview. It was fun! (:

It’s better to not go in with any pre-conceived notion of how it will be. You’ll save yourself a ton of stress in the long run. Trust me, I was sweating bullets for mine and it was no pressure at all.

When do we have to submit recommendation letters by?

Carbon, I think you have to send them in soon after you get an interview notification. So I would be prepared to ask a teacher for one, and even let the teacher know you might need one within the next few weeks, in case you get an interview. :)

Hey ThisCircusWheel - Thanks for that. I think i might just ask my teacher to write one now. Should it be a humanities teacher from your junior year or a teacher from your sophomore year or what?

Wow, you’re that sure you’ll be a finalist? You must have written fantastic essays!

Which phone number should we call if we plan on calling Telluride to find out if we got an interview?

i bet i missed this somewhere but are notifications for interviews sent out via email or mail?

^Snail mail for me last year, but finalist notifications were by email.
