Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP) 2010

^ I concur.

Seconded.

10

perhaps the waves of acceptances have something to do with geography? weak possibility…

This is because they responded to sporadic queries about application decisions rather than issuing a decision email like they’re doing this year. I’d be very surprised if they are actually sending the emails out in more than one batch, since there isn’t any reason to do so. Again, I don’t want to give the impression that I know definitively, but my guess is that those who got emails are the sole finalists.

As for the rampant glumness, I’m really sorry guys. I applied to UWC last year while applying to TASP (I think I read a few pages back that someone else got an interview for UWC this year, too) and was ultimately rejected by the school. I can honestly say that things worked out better than I could have hoped, and that I learned a lot from that rejection (and not in the Full House “this is what we learned from today’s episode, children” way either). The good news is that this doesn’t affect your college future at all (remember, there are plenty of admits to top schools who have been rejected by TASP) and that you lost nothing by applying. Recycle and improve some essays, make some kickass plans for the summer (even if they don’t include a summer program), and find something to be excited about.

Best of luck to everyone, and I will of course stick around for the handful that might have questions about interviews and whatnot. May Bokonon bless you with bountiful boko-marus and lots of nerdy love.

embeezy: Did you end up getting an interview for UWC?

My upcoming UWC interview provides some solace in this rejection…

invoyable, where did you hear this?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/663831-tasp-rejects-yale.html

And UWC = United World Colleges.

Not gonna lie, kind of disappointed. I figured I wasn’t going to actually get in but I thought I’d make it past the first round. :-/

Keeping hopes alive though. Good luck to the rest of you, I am sure there are some deserving applicants out there! And congrats to whoever has made it :)

If I recall correctly, it was from another poster who allegedly quoted Telluride on them saying decisions will be out by Wed/Thurs, thus presumably by the end of this week.

Obviously, I can’t vouch for this, and if I misquoted somehow, my fault.

Yup, I was a finalist but was ultimately rejected. Good luck with your interview! PM me if you have questions or anything, I’d be happy to help.

I guess I’m taking Cal 3 and Cal 4 over the summer instead of TASP! Just to be on the bright side of things :)

Finalists: What do you think made your essays work so well? Essay time will come again for colleges, so I want to learn from this.

now this is making me feel depressed…

I didn’t actually feel anything when I saw the shocking posts. My mind tells me this is definitely not the end. Hopefully more CCers can made the first round!
Is it a good idea to email TA at this point?

I clicked “Contact Us” and “requested information” on whether or not all acceptions had been e-mailed out.
No reply yet, but it’s night-time.

Hmm. I know this is a little off topic, but I feel it’ll be fine if I ask this here. What math classes is everyone taking? At my school, the most it offers is Calculus, and if you do get to Calculus you’re considered really smart. I know that at a lot of other schools, it goes way past Calculus. Thoughts?

This is my last paranoid post for the night, but if those were all the finalist e-mails, why wouldn’t rejections be sent out at the same time?
I still don’t think I made it personally, but I don’t see how the acceptances could be finished.

Please post as your get e-mails, keep our spirits alive! :D

The most my school offers is Cal AB, which very few take. But I’m self-studying Cal BC and then taking Cal 3 and Cal 4 later! :)

What is Calculus AB, and how does it differ from BC? Is AB only a semester long or something? Sorry, my school doesn’t have anything like that.

Not really… the vast majority of students won’t take anything beyond Calculus in high school, which is what I’ll be taking.

Really, you should start a new thread about this if you’re interested.

Well, it was just a quick question. I probably shouldn’t have asked for everyone’s input though because that would start a whole discussion on it. Sorry!
