Yay!! submitted XD

Time to stress until March before I get my decision.

Have fun to those who are still applying.

How many books are you guys putting on the list?

I did it! I clicked “submit”! Now to do homework… 1000 word essay on Joseph Andrews :-(

who’s Joseph Andrews?

and I think I have around 25 books on my list after cutting it down, but I do like to read.

46 books - I read a lot, but then, my extracurriculars are really lame…

Whew…this is exhausting…

wow. I have 10.

I hope it doesn’t make a difference… but these were the books that really stuck out to me and made some kind of an impact. I could list a few more, but I’m not sure if I want to.

I’ve got 25 with the same reasoning as neverending–I’m not sure I want to list all of the murder mysteries and silly chick lit! It’s weird, though, because I do read a lot and feel like my list doesn’t reflect that. Oh well, it’s supposedly not that much of a factor.

3 and 4 are misbehaving with me. How long are yours?

I just included all the books that I really, really, liked; they’re significant because something in them appealed to me that much.

^Both of my 2 and 3 are going to end up at 1000 or 1100 words, not full length.

Are those your short ones, then?
My 1 is about 1,200 and 2 is around 1,300. That’s because I wrote more for the “about two single-spaced pages” than the actual numerical limit. I’m good with those, though. 3 and 4 are around 720-850. Not so good. ):

hahah I can’t really say, I haven’t written 1 yet. but my 4 is like 1475 words.

I see. I know what I’ll be doing tomorrow, then… :/

just pressed the “submit” button. So relieved!

Now it’s up to the admissions committee. Good luck all!

@coachella

Joseph Andrews is a book by Henry Fielding, written in 1742…

wow what a bummer. I can’t even imagine writing another essay right after this application.

AAAAH
Thank the Lord! Finally submitted my app…

So stressful! I found myself writing during my vacations trip to Miami and fighting with my parents (why are you writing now son?? put down that macboook NOWW!)… That was harsh :)

At least I’ve done it. Essays are fairly good, but not exceptional… My word count is absuuuuurdly high (only essay 4 had a word count below 1300 words hehe). And my book list is so small!! (13 books + 3 periodicals subscriptions)…

Now it’s all about suffering from “OMG-am-I-gonna-be-interviewed-?” syndrome… hahaha

Which course was your first choice? Mine was Cornell I followed by Michigan I…

Best of luck to everyone! Hope we see each other in TASP! hahah =D

So jealous of all those who’ve submitted their apps already! Good luck, guys :)

sigh I’d like to say I’ll finally learn my lesson about procrastination after this, but…no…probably not…

Hey, you, YES YOU, who are reading this page, can you help me out ?

I’m an international applicant to TASP and I’ve written drafts of 4 essays (when I should be finished with everything and just rewriting today but I’m procrastinating way too much), but I still don’t understand what I’m supposed to write in the ‘critical analysis’ as I’ve never done such work before ;_; Some pointers would be appreciated, I googled it but I mostly found guides which looked like boring analysis we do in literature class, is this what TASP really wants ?

Just submitted mine. Such a relief!!!

^Good luck!

^^Critical analysis means to look at the text in a very detailed way and find what holds it together underneath the plot/storyline. What themes does it have? What does it allude to? How does the author’s time period/location/personal life correlate to the text? things like that. It doesn’t have to be boring, if you choose something you feel strongly about or to which you can formulate a very original response.

aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

I’ve now written about two different conflicts for 3 and absolutely cannot choose which one to use.

what are they looking for mainly in the conflict essay?
