<p>Ankles, unfortunately I can’t tell whether you weren’t allowed to/didn’t apply or if your parents are saying that you won’t be allowed to go if you get in. If it’s the former, that’s unfortunate, but try not to get too down. TASP is very unique, yes, but awesome experiences can be had a lot of different ways and it’s not the end of the world to miss out on one.</p>
<p>If it’s the former, I really think you should talk to your parents about at least keeping it open as a possibility. Their rules about financial assistance (as far as I know and from my own experience receiving it) are not set in stone. They used to explicitly say that they would provide a stipend to those students who are in your situation of having to work to support their family (or themselves) over the summer–I think it was $500 but I can’t be sure. Even though they don’t mention anything of the kind now, talk to them, or have your parents talk to them, if you get in. They’re very, very serious about being accesible to people. <p>From my unreliable observations, interview notifications are often sent on the first Wednesday or Thursday in March, somewhere around noon. So I’ll predict March 3. Don’t count on me though. :D</p>
