I’ll second embeezy on this idea of practice is not necessary, nor the idea that preparation makes for a good interview.

Since each interviewer/interview is different and a range of topics (including those you haven’t written about) can be brought up, the only real way to prepare for your interview is to read over your essays and be ready to defend what you believe in. The biggest thing about your interview is to be honest and yourself. Don’t try to appear more intellectual than you actually are.

@Anyone who needs to contact Telluride about your interviews: Contact Ellen Baer at telluride@cornell.edu

In terms of knowing current world events, I think it’s just like anything else. I wouldn’t think they expect you to be a news junkie–if you are, it’s your “talent”. On the other hand, I would bet they expect interviewees to be cognizant of the world around them and have at least an understanding of what’s going on.

For someone who is not all too interested in the news, simply browsing the headlines for 10-15min a day isn’t a bad way to catch up–not just for TASP, but for life in general. I wouldn’t expect them to be concerned whether the applicant knows the names of Mubarak’s Cabinet, as such, but to at least keenly understand the implications of what is happening in the region.

Edit: Does anyone have any idea how they do interviews for international students? Skype, I presume?

How are the interviewers contacting people? Is it going to be by phone or by email? And if it’s by phone, I accidentally typed my number wrong on the app. Should I contact them and tell them this?

In the event that you forgot your login username and/or password, and the database won’t recall your email (to have the login info mailed to you), email cge3@cornell.edu and request for it to be sent to you. Best of luck!

I would believe that all emails would be sent from Cornell, seeing as the main office is at Cornell. Our recommendation and transcript are sent to Cornell also.

So I was an idiot and checked the “contact me via
Phone option” in the app and am getting sligtlu nervous reading all these cc posts about ppl getting their interview dates. Did anyone else do the same thing and get contacted? Should I email Ellen Baer?

Hi! New here. I just created an account. Did anyone else apply to both TASP and RSI? Btw, I got an inetrview at TASP, which surprised me as I am really young for my grade but cool! I am pretty evenly interested in both science and humanities and am wondering if I am one of the few like this applying to tasp. Thanks!

I’m definitely in the same boat. I’m anxious about being contacted by my interviewer, but I’m assuming that it’s just taking time. I’m not worrying about it just yet; if a couple more weeks go by and I haven’t heard from my interviewer(s), I’ll start freaking out, but for now, I’m just waiting (im)patiently. :D
