<p>Very difficult. You should read their website. First, the applicant pool is self selecting because of the reputation of the program and the rigor of the application. They state they get 1200+ applications a year and then select 140 for interviews. From there 64 students are selected to participate. </p>

Out of sheer luck, I made TASS finalist. The process is very similar with equal levels of competitiveness, so I’ll share my secret. </p>
<ol>
<li><p>Use the Failed-Simulation effect. Google this term so you’ll understand it better (Look for Cal Newport’s blog), but essentially try to make your ECs fit an overall summary of yourself and make them seem hard to do</p></li>
<li><p>Write funny essays, or at least add some comedic wit</p></li>
<li><p>Read a lot and list some great books</p></li>
<li><p>Hope + Pray</p></li>

<p>@Apollo11 By “make them seem hard to do” did you just write your ECs in a way to fit the Failed Simulation effect (and if so, how?) or did you pursue something worthy of the effect?</p>
