Having an extremely tough choice deciding between these two schoole. Without including other factors, I like UDel slightly better. But I am a PA resident(Temple is cheaper), and a few close friends are going/plan on going there. Waiting to see what kind of merit scholarships I get, and if I could possibly get into one of their honors programs. The thing I like about UD is the distance from home (about 1.5 hours) and the campus is BEAUTIFUL. It felt really at home. Which school should I️ lean towards?
You should make your decision based on…
1° what is affordable for your parents (if you take on federal loans and they pay from savings and income, did you get enough merit scholarships?)
2° if you got into the Honors College.
Wait till you have both elements above before you start thinking of a decision.
If money isn’t the deciding factor (I know UDel isn’t very generous to OOS students), then you should base your decision on the school and the program where you feel most comfortable. The two are very different in terms of campus and feeling. My D attends Temple and she’s about 1.5 hours away from home, which is partly why she liked it. But she also loved the city feel to the school. The UDel campus is more of a typical college campus and the town is small and very college-oriented.
Your major may also play into your decision. Does one school have a better reputation for the major you’re interested in? That may also be something to consider.
