TENTATIVE College Schedule: Too Hard or Too Easy?

1) ENG 101. / 103. English Composition (3 Credit hours)
2) FRE 101. Elementary French (3 Credit hours)
3) MAT 101. College Algebra (3 Credit hours)
4) BIO 101. Biological Science LAB COURSE
5) SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology (3 Credit Hours)
6) HPED 151 Aquatics and Fitness (1 Credit hour)

I plan on majoring in English. I want to take French because I was good in HS, and I may be able to place into intermediate french and thus fulfill my language requirement this year, so that FRE 101 may actually be FRE 201. I’m not exactly sure what sociology is… could someone please clear that up for me? Oh, and how does that differ from Psychology and Philosophy?

Aquatics is simply getting a phys ed requirement out of the way early on. Overall, 16 Credit hours. (My school requires 12, and no student can have more than 19) Does this seem like too much? or too little?

That schedule looks pretty good to me…sociology is basically the study of society…it has to do with race/gender relations, things like affirmative action, welfare etc. Psychology deals with the brain and is much more individual. Philosophy is just the basically the thoughts of different individuals, it is the most different of the three you asked about.

That seems like a nice, even schedule. At first, I was worried because it was six classes; most people take four or five. But they’re three credits each, so that should be okay. And aquatics seems like a nice stress-buster.

Thats a good and pretty typical schedule for a freshman, all your gen ed requirements. Should be no problems.

What about this?

Finance Major

HUMA 1301 Intro to Humanities MWF 10-1050AM
MATH 1325 Applied Calculus I MWF 12-1250AM
AIM 2301 Intro to Financial Accounting MW 330-445PM

RHET 1101 Oral Communication TR 930-1020AM
GEOS 3332 Age of Dinosaurs TR 1230-145 PM
ECON 2301 Intro to Microeconomics TR 2-315PM

Anyone? anyone?

Cool, Age of Dinosaurs. I wonder what that’s like.

My schedule is mostly concentrated on the social sciences, though I’m no ‘social sciences’ major but a future biology major. Did my advisor mess up or something (don’t care)?

Intro to Biol I

Geography of the Global Village

History of the US

Topics in Contemp Math II

Intro to Sociology

Shouldn’t I be taking an Intro to Chem class?

If you’re looking to go pre-med, then Intro to Chem might not be such a bad idea.

Yeah I’d be taking chem or another science in place of your geography, history, or soc…unless your advisor just wanted you to get done with all those generals, or was thinking they would be easier for you as a freshman

Okay, I’ve decided to take an Intro to Chem course, but all the classes are full. What should, or could, I do?

Get on the waitlist and hope someone drops out.

–“Okay, I’ve decided to take an Intro to Chem course, but all the classes are full. What should, or could, I do?”–

Same happened to me at uiuc (except Chem=french and Arabic). I’ve done a lot of reading and from what I’ve heard, just wait the first couple of days and people should drop it leaving a space for you.

I love my freshman schedule. It’s so easy and all of my classes are in the morning (morning person).
Physics Major:
Calculas 4 crd
Intro to German 4 crd
Organismal and Evolutionary Biology 3 crd
Elementary Partical Physics (Advanced Comp) 3 crd
Physics Careers 0 crd – Love the sound of this course, there’s no homework and it’s not even a full semester

If there’s absolutely no way you can get into Intro to Chem, how about another course that will help you in your science major? Do you need to take a physics or statistics class?
