Tentative Fall Schedule

Hello,

As a transfer student, I have completed all of my core curriculum requirements and can only take upper division at this point. Furthermore, the other courses needed for my major (Mathematics and Physics) have strict prerequisites. As I am looking at courses on the Fall 2012 Schedule that I must take in order to be able to continue my major sequence, I notice that every single one is either closed or waitlisted. My question is: how should I proceed from here? I will not be able to register until August because I will not be able to attend summer orientation due to an undergraduate research position. This late registration will only further complicate my ability to get courses I need to take. Any input is appreciated.

Thank you for your time,

For those interested, the courses I need to take are as follows:

M427K Advanced Calculus for Applications I
M328K Intro to Number Theory
PHY316 Electricity and Magnetism
PHY116L Lab for 316

you could try taking some of those at a CC over the summer. I think 316 is pretty easy to transfer over. Not sure about the others.

mnaacd,

Thank you for the advice, but I will be participating in an eight week, full time research program in mathematics. Also, physics 316 isn’t offered at my CC. I know I am in quite the bind. It seems that this could delay my graduation by a semester.

Thank you again,

Have you asked your academic advisor about it?

Also,

 1. M 328K INTRODUCTION TO NUMBER THEORY is still open.
 2. There were several topics here where people mentioned that it was best to sign for 1st summer orientation because you could change your schedule later when new classes opened. Apparantely, the schedule can be changed during summer and new classes can be added. Ask your academic advisor if there is a chance that it will happen to your classes.

I don’t think I have an academic adviser yet. Whom would I speak to find out who mine is? I plan to take 328K. Hopefully it will not fill up by the time I register. Yeah, I have also heard I will need to stick it out until add/drop period.

Well, students who registered for summer orientation were contacted by email.
What is your school/department? Probably somebody here can provide you with names and emails.

Also, is you go to your school website and search for academic advising you’ll find something. These links usually require student ID that I don’t have.

Just an example because I don’t know where you are going to study.
