Hi! I’m super excited to be attending the University in about 3 months and I’ve completed all the online placement tests! For the math test, though, they said calc 1 is a tentative recommendation. Does this mean they’re going to discourage me from taking calc? I know this is probably very specific to each person and might depend on the adviser, but any help will be highly appreciated!
Go Blue!
I just looked back at my math placement recommendation and mine said “definite recommendation”, so I assume what they mean by “tentative” is that your scores were good enough to place you into Calculus, but because you were probably a borderline decision, if you are not feeling confident in your math skills want more math work before going into Calculus, then you can opt to go the PreCalculus route.
Yeah I got the same thing, but I missed the last 11 questions. I assume your adviser is just gonna say something like “are you sure?” “yes” “k”
Yeah there are 4 possible scores you can get on the placement exam:
-Definite recommendation for Pre-Calc
-Tentative recommendation for Pre-Calc
-Tentative recommendation for Calc
-Definite recommendation for Calc
Tentative recommendation means that you are placed there, but depending on your math background, that can change the advise that the advisor gives you.
How did you receive your score? Thank you!
@sopranosings Under Academic Records, there is a menu item called View Placement Exam Results.
