"Tents of Love"

One of my Facebook friends just posted this article about parents in China parting from their children starting college. For families about to be separated by great distances, and with the lack of hotel rooms, it seems to make a certain kind of sense. But the visuals of the tent cities are stunning! http://qz.com/768696/chinese-parents-sleep-in-tents-of-love-outside-their-college-kids-dorms-to-make-the-goodbyes-easier/

The visual of the tents reminds me of the same precision in the Olympics ceremonies in 2008. I can’t imagine American parents camping in such close proximity to strangers nor being so orderly about it.

Aww…“I feel my heart is empty with my son gone,” Heck, rather than spending my precious money on a Marriott that I could ill afford for three nights with my oldest, I’d have been pleased with a tent. Sweet article.

Friends who go on supported long bike rides describe similar tent cities, if outside.

It makes a lot of sense for families with very little money who have traveled great distances to take their young person to school.
