Terrible Junior Year! Help!

My freshman year I had a 3.8 GPA. My sophomore year I had a 3.6 GPA. The first semester of my junior year I had a 2.45 GPA. My second semester of junior year I had a - please hold your snide remarks - a 1.45 GPA. Combined, my junior year GPA was 1.95. Cumulatively, my high school GPA is 3.12.

I have a few clubs from freshman and sophomore year. I have a couple clubs from junior year. I play no sports. I have no extra circular activities outside of school, and I have done no volunteering, albeit it the falsified mandatory hours that I turned in at the end of this past school year.

I was banking on the fact that I could improve my grades first quarter of senior year, and that this would be included in my application/transcript. However, recently, i’ve become aware that my grades from first quarter of senior year are irrelevant to the college application process. Can anyone confirm?

My prospective college list is as follows:

United States Military Academy at West Point

University of California, Los Angeles (Acceptance Rate – 23%) [REACH]

University of California, Santa Barbara (Acceptance Rate – 53%)

How bleak are things? Please help, and please don’t shatter my dreams of a successful life.

EDIT: If helpful, I am a resident of Washington State.

calm down dude. One of the great things about America is that there is always second chances. You will get into one of those schools. And if you really want to head for a successful life, then you will work hard and maybe transfer into a more prestigious university. The point is that if you really want it, you can get it. Just work hard for it

… What happened?

You have to first begin by not believing your future success will be determined by the college you attend. You need to do really well this year, get into the best college you can and you can always transfer if you want a stronger degree.

The bad news in that you don’t have the minimum qualifications for any of the UC schools. Even in state you need a minimum 3.0 (they only count soph and jr years) to be considered. West Point would also seem unlikely.

The Arizona schools look promising with a decent SAT score (above 1500). Don’t really know about the other state schools, but if you need financial aid, find an in state safety.

I should mention that my SAT is about 1650-1700, as I recall.

As far as what happened, I was what amounted to be expelled from my private school with four days left, the day before finals started. Most of the assignments I was planning on turning in were not able to be turned in, and I was not able to take finals. Such is the price on pays for releasing several dozen live rodents in the hallways of the school. Take it from me, it may seem like a funny idea in your head, but it’s no longer funny once the principal finds out.

So we’re clear, when “GPA” is mentioned, it typically refers to the cumulative (average) of your high school years thus far, correct?

And can I get some clarification as to whether or not first quarter senior grades may be counted toward college admissions?
