Saw a lovely video newstory about a young woman mariachi, Rita Rameriz, who is helping bring internet to Detroit, particularly in poor communities who have never had it! It was very uplifting. There are many wonderful helpers in this world.
After events such as this, I sometimes feel a bit better if I remind myself that I can also be a helper. I’m sure I will never be a certified first responder, but I can strive to always be kind and helpful.

Somehow, and very sadly in this day and age of so much hatred and violence - Mr. Rogers’ sentiment just seems so wonderfully ‘old fashioned’
I usually fast forward during TV commercials but I’ve found myself leaving the Google Pixel 3 ads on because the sound of Fred Rogers’ voice singing his “Wonder” song makes me smile and brings down my blood pressure after reading about current events. He was such a genuinely kind and gentle man. We could all use a dose of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood these days.
I have always found it extremely sad that we are compelled to have an armed guard at the front of our small synagogue…24/7.
I’m not sure why they bother to give medical attention to the shooter. Unless they’re not certain he is the shooter. Save the resources for the victims.
Giving medical attention to the suspect is morally appropriate. It is also useful for a suspect to survive so that more information can be obtained from the person.
My daughter is a nursing student and was admitted to and considered strongly attending University of Pittsburgh. We just talked about how this injured terrorist is likely at UPMC and how it would be her duty as a nurse to treat this horrible man with the same care and dilligence as any other patient and the fact that he would have wanted to kill her because she is Jewish could not be allowed to interfere with her sacred obligations.
As if having one poorly trained security guard is going to fix anything. Initial reports are saying that 4 cops have been shot, and they have much better training than the vast amount of security guards out there. The shooter probably had the cops outgunned with an assault rifle, or something like that, capable of firing multiple rounds in a very short period of time.
I am not Jewish, but have some immediate family that is. This news would chill my blood if it was anyone, of any religion or nationality, but nothing smacks more of evil to me than killing and targeting Jews. It is a massive alarm bell for a society when it starts to happen.
