Is it best to type or write a “cheat sheet” notecard for a test? I’m allowed to have one for the midterm I have tomorrow, and have never made one before. It can’t be any bigger than 3x5, but can have stuff on both sides. Any suggestions?

What subject is is for? Is it a timed exam?

i say hand write it. a lot of teachers have rules against typing them so you can’t just use someone elses; i’m suprised yours doesn’t. anyway, when you hand write it, you don’t have to go in straight lines so you can fit in more stuff

I had one once, it didn’t help me. I still got a C on the test, haha.

Anyways, by now you should have studied, so be sure to put on it any information you are having trouble memorizing, like dates, or diagrams, or whatever. My advice is to seriously cram as much as you can onto it in a neat, organized fashion (typed), but make sure you study the location of the info on the card thoroughly so you don’t waste valuable time fishing for info.

I guess a cheat card can help…but what it comes down to is how much did you study, not really how much did you put on the card. shrug.

It’s for a education/reading class, and I have from 9:40 to 11:10 to take it. I know the material well (I’m an obsessive note-taker and reader), but I figured it would still be good to have a card. I hand wrote it. I think the teacher didn’t have a rule about typing because she hasn’t taught in two years, and she’s a bit naive about cheating.

usually for me the act of making one (and i do it really well, put alot of effort into it) makes me learn it so much that i dont use it. but scaffolding the information so much i have found is a good way to study, and its there if you forget the particulars!

Did the teacher have particular terms on the notecard?

If not, when given this chance, I always typed it. With a size font of 3, you can fit quite quite a bit on it. (Providing you have decent vision to read that size print also.)

No human can ever write in Times New Roman Size 3. Hence, it makes it smarter to type it.

All she said was that you could have up to a 3x5 card and could have stuff on both sides of it. It would have been a bunch easier to have typed everything, but I managed to get everything on the card and had some room left.

I didn’t even look at it during the test and still made an A. :)
