Hi CC, I just had a quick question. I submitted my test scores (1440, 710 English 730 Math) to Washington and Lee because I was above the 25th percentile of test scores, (1430) according to their previous year class profile. However, I am being told by my friends that this was the wrong decision. What is everyone’s opinion?
Per CDS 54% submit tests and you are above the 25th percentile in composite, reading and math. Not well above but above.
My daughter was at the 25th (act) when she applied and got in.
25th percent, which you are above, means 25% were below.
I would have submitted. If you don’t get in, your test won’t be the reason. If anything you’ve shown you’re legit.
Best of luck.
Can’t really make a meaningful response, not knowing anything about your app. With that said, it’s likely sending your scores was a fine decision. Did your HS counselor support sending scores?
And PS: stop talking with your friends about your apps and the whole college process.
Applicants to W&L who submitted standardized scores gained admission at a rate 40% greater than their absolute numbers would otherwise indicate. Since you were able to report fine scores yourself, it’s likely better that you placed yourself within this group.
