IF you have a student, or are a student, preparing to take the GRE and are planning on using KAPLAN for Test Prep you will want to read this.
6 days before the KAPLAN on-site GRE class was to start we receive a call from KAPLAN cancelling the class. This meant that the GRE would need to be re-scheduled as well. This was 36 days before the GRE date and roughly 45 days before app’s are due for grad school. NOT GOOD!!!

Talk about a dilema! KAPLAN really messed things up~
KAPLAN said they would pay for her to reschedule her GRE, GREAT!!! (that’s a $50 resched. fee) HOWEVER, we couldn’t reschedule the GRE because KAPLAN didn’t have any classes scheduled beyond mid-March!
They want to keep your money, while you go ahead and reschedule a GRE test, not knowing if they will EVER follow through with a prep class. Hey, we are talking $1495.00!
KAPLAN cannot even give you a firm number of people they need to hold a class, duh! I was told they MIGHT hold a class if there are 5 students. So, is it 5 or 7 or 10 or what? The answer was, “it depends”.
KAPLAN acted like they were doing me a favor refunding my money for the class.
KAPLAN even had the nerve to say “I had cancelled”. REALLY!
When I argued this KAPLAN said it was because I wasn’t rescheduling, therefore I was cancelling. I told them my daughter would be at the class next Tuesday then. KAPLAN’s response, “that class has been cancelled”. How did this make me the person who cancelled?
I would have been happy to re-schedule but KAPLAN only has a schedule to mid-march!!!
So how do you reschedule… What is your May schedule, What is your June Schedule… answer: “we don’t have one.”
Unfortunately, my daughter couldn’t take a prep class again until in May. Now we have lost 1/2 of the monies pd. for the GRE test ($80.00). I am very leary of KAPLAN’s ability to ever follow through. You could sign up and pay for the class, Schedule your GRE and lose the money again because KAPLAN could continue to cancel classes. NOT GOOD BUSINESS!
