First drop the idea that you must have perfect test scores and GPA. That goal seems very unrealistic and, even if you achieved both, nothing is guaranteed. You already know to enroll in and earn good grades in difficult classes. Please learn the content of classes beyond just studying to get an A in a class. Pay attention in class, take notes, complete assignments and read the text book more than once with your brain engaged. Just going over facts until they are memorized isn’t learning. Instead, it is rote recall that is best saved for the written part of the written test at motor vehicles office. Refrain from getting distracted by a problem teacher. Instead, spend your time learning content because you are not entering a personal relationship. In contrast, don’t get sidetracked by a fun, chatty teacher with little content.
The best preparation for admissions tests is making full use of your opportunity to learn in high school. Learn test and study skills that work for you. Reading is the best way to learn information and vocabulary, increases reading speed, fluency and comprehension, is fun and and helps pass time. Read whenever possible and not just required text. Be good to yourself.
