Test Taking

Hey guys I’m a student at USC and I would appreciate some advice about test taking. I have been studying really hard and I go into the test knowing every topic. Even during the test I feel confident about my answers. But when I get my grade back I barely break the average. Are there any strategies that can improve my critical thinking skills and/or test taking skills?

Thank you all for your time!

practice, practice, and more practice. Does your prof. give out old exams for students to practice with? Most of my profs do, and I use that to become familiar with the test format before I take it.

Yes he does and I do the practice exam twice and take notes on the questions I don’t know. And I still can’t break through. It just gets really frustrating!

You could go talk to your professor or a learning specialist at your school. Professors usually know the best way to study for their tests.

If none of that works, then sometimes you have to just have to give in and accept that you will be doing “just average” in a class. That has happened to me in 2 college classes so far. Most other classes, I have been able to do a lot better than just average, because I was able to adapt to different teaching styles and testing methods.

I’ve heard USC pre med is ridiculously hard? How is it? Liking the school?

haha it’s kinda hard to love it when I’m not having that much success in the classroom but other than that it’s great!
