<p>Has anyone read this book? I think it’s really good, it’s about how an inner city elementary school deals with the changes brought with No Child Left Behind. They spend all their time in school reading and doing math. They only write when they answer extended-response questions to stories they’ve read about while preparing for standardized tests, since the tests only cover reading and math. And science and social studies is skipped entirely until after the tests.</p>

<p>But even though the school does all this, they still do really good on the tests.</p>

<p>It sounds like they are doing the right thing then. Lets face it, not everyone is meant to be rocket scientists - but if the school can get a certain amount of reading/math proficiency, they’re doing their job.</p>

<p>Wait–if they “still do really good on the tests” then why they are they skipping science? Or were you trying to say that they have to do that stuff in order to do well on the tests?</p>
