Sad to say but it has been so long since I was in college, I can’t remember if most courses have tests, require papers or require both. My son is interested in English, business and computer science. What can he expect?

D has had test and papers in all her classes at Amherst.

English - mostly papers. Some are more writing-intensive than others. Tests are a rarity in Eng classes. However, Eng majors must take a comprehensive exam senior year in the fall.

Business - we don’t have a pre-biz program. We do have economics. Expect tests there.

Of course, it depends on the prof and the course. For my studio art classes I have had papers, tests, and oral presentations. Yes, that’s right–studio art, not art history.

Thanks.

I guess that now that he is in, I’m just wondering if he can and will keep up with the work. Thanks for your responses.
