Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

Name in directory isn’t any kind of indicator. Appears everyone who applies gets their name in…assume those names are removed after decisions have been made.

@Ae1231 what are your stats?

Our son’s name was in the directory for 4 months, then it was missing. I checked to be sure his name was permitted to be listed and somehow it had been unchecked. We added it back and now he is back in the directory again. Weird…

With the pushes against “traditional” DEI in universities, I think geographic diversity is what a lot of universities are trying out. We’ve noticed an uptick in our smaller TX HS of students getting accepted into corners of the US where they never had before. California students are getting shut out of some schools, etc. It’s something interesting to watch.

Do any of you know when they will post merit scholarship offers in Howdy? Anyone received offers? I have nothing shown in there, does that mean I have no offer for merit? Accepted OOS a while back in October.

Can someone please help with “7 tabs”? What are they and where do they “appear”? On AIS or on Howdy page? We have seen on one post here that those are seven items in the menu on the left on Howdy page (applicant, my dashboard, my record, etc.) but my son said he those since he applied.

@5qbits February is when scholarship offers will start appearing, but they can show up even after school starts in the fall.
All scholarship and financial aid appears in FinAid tab in Howdy portal, and student has to ‘accept’ the offers.
Being OOS, unless you’re NMSF (or joining the Corps), don’t count on any $, certainly nothing ‘substantial’.

Thanks! Yeah, I know it’s tough, not a NMSF nor applying Corps. Still hoping for some $, need some luck I guess

Your chance of getting $4k offered, to get in-state tuition, is next-to-zero (if not NMSF and/or Corps).
Just being honest.

Holy cow, I just looked up that the COA out of state is 60K?!?

That must be to fully fund our fired football coach account!

Does anyone know if the notification of choice for Engg. pathways (TEAB / Galveston / McAllen) comes through email or do we need to check AIS every few days? Last year S23 straightaway got an email about the offer of admission to Galveston on Feb 16th. We never monitored the AIS and so have no idea if the other pathways (TEAB / McAllen) were even offered to him. This year, for S24, we are more watchful as TEAB would be our first pick (if offered).

When are decisions updated in the portal? Certain days and times? Do students receive emails to alert them? Is the residency displayed in the portal their residency determination that was made based on the way the students answered the questions?
TIA!

No alert, up to student to check. The ‘7 tabs’ update around 7:00 a.m.
Not sure what you’re asking about residency? Does your student attend a Texas high school? Have you lived in Texas 12 months? Or are you military, with Texas as your home state (there’s another PC term, but I can’t think what it is)?

Yes, we are military and stationed elsewhere. Thanks so much!

Military In Texas Waiver.

On the Howdy page. It’s on top when you’re on a desktop and on the side when you’re on a cellphone. Scroll through last year’s thread and there are more pics than this year.

Here’s what the 7 tabs look like in Howdy.

What’s in the Research Tab? I don’t have it, and this makes 8 tabs instead of 7

Not everyone gets an email about choosing TEAB/Galveston (for engineers) or TEAM/waitlist (for non-engineers). It seems that most just get an offer and that’s that. They don’t have a choice. For those that do get a notification about making a choice, it seems like they have been sent an email. My son ('26) was offered Galveston the first week of February. We checked AIS and Howdy each day and saw the 7 tabs very early in February. He never got an email.
