Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

@HowBoutDemBoyz you are aware all incoming freshman enter as General Engineering, then everyone goes thru ETAM later to try for their specialty (Mechanical, Comp Sci, Civil, etc.), correct?

I think you have solid stats. As long as you have the higher level math courses needed that Engineering wants, I’d expect a pathway offer-Galveston, McAllen or TEAB.

Your daughter that got Gateway - what major?

I agree. As a data point, last year S23 was offered Galveston for Engg with 3.5UW / 3.61W / 1420 SAT / 2nd Quartile.

She applied to 1. Agribusiness and 2. Ag Journalism. Once accepted, Gateway puts them into General Studies. She is now in Ag Econ.

My son’s friend applied for Econ and received Blinn Team today.

@Christi1993 making sure you see this
A Blinn TEAM offer has gone out.

Any idea what his stats were?

He was only top 19%! Crazy!

My nephew received Blinn Team last week. He’s 2nd quarter, 1100 SAT, not sure about GPA but I think he took 2 DC classes.

My son did not submit his SAT, because he scored an 1150. He does have a 3.8 unweighted and 5.05 weighted though, and is top 13%. It is hard waiting this long.

Same here. My class of '26 son was offered engineering at Galveston with similar stats. My current senior has almost the same exact stats and we are hoping for a TEAB offer so he can live in CSTAT with his class of '26 brother who ETAM’d after his freshman year and is in CSTAT.

We are waiting too, so I understand. Applied 8/1. I’m super happy for my nephew but it’s bittersweet bc my son’s stats were way higher (1st quarter, 4.2 gpa, (not a great SAT 1220), lots of DC/AP, 2 yr job, internship, varsity sports, etc. He worked so hard. He would love a Blinn team offer.

@justus4 crazy low stats for your nephew. Hate to say, but he’ll struggle at A&M.
Sure he got offered a TEAM spot, and not an email asking him if he would be interested?
Scratching my head…
I’m frustrated with you!

I’m positive. I helped him register for NSC.
I have another question. My son should’ve been graduating with 36 DC hours but during first semester this year, they changed it and decided to make a 4 hour class an 8 hour class. (Not a class that would go toward his major) He didn’t think about this taking him out of Blinn Team contention bc he had already worked out his schedule/plan with his counselor and didn’t think anything of it. Is there anything he can do?

@justus4 absolutely mind boggling your nephew was offered TEAM, and sooner than any we’ve heard of. Is he from a rural school, Century Scholar school, low income, under represented people group? Trying to understand…

Unfortunately I think if your son has 40 or more DC hours, he won’t be considered for Blinn TEAM. Even at 36, that might be cutting it too close. BUT, if senior coursework submitted with application shows 36, maybe they’ll consider it??

Pray for Gateway! :pray:t3: :crossed_fingers:t3:

My nephew from the state of Washington got accepted into MAYS in October. He comes from a small private school with 60 students in the senior class, and was not even top 25 %. I didn’t ask his SAT scores, but he told me he was not a good test taker. I couldn’t believe that he didn’t have to wait like all the other students in Texas. I wondered if it was because A&M did not have many applicants from the state of Washington.

It has really been hard for my son to know he got accepted so easily, and gets first dibs on housing while we still wait in January.

He is from a large, competitive 6A high school (like my son). He is not low income but he is a minority.

My oldest son will be graduating from A&M in May. He went to a small private high school. They did not rank. A&M had their own ranking system for them, and was also admitted in October (2020). I wonder if your nephew’s school is similar? I know the waiting is awful. Best of luck to your son (and you). Fingers crossed we all hear something soon!

Thanks so much for the responses, and we are praying!

Last question…my son’s name being listed in the TAMU directory (like my nephew) does not mean anything, correct?

I am also from Washington and got into Mays in October. Maybe they are really going after Washngton this year.
