@PepperMilo congrats! That’s Gateway!
Students attend the 2nd summer session (mandatory live on campus) and they enter as General Studies major.
Great offer!
Is it? That’s great to hear. Looks like we’ll be visiting Texas! He also got a direct admit to his major at Purdue, so I definitely need to learn more about Gateway.
What are their stats-rank, test scores, when did they apply, what quarter did A&M give them, what majors did they apply for?
Summer admit is definitely Gateway!
Did this update for you at this time today or earlier in the day today? Just curious if these offers were posted earlier today only or reoccurring throughout the day.
Thank you so much for all of your guidance!!
An email came in this morning re-iterating that TAMU had received the application and to create a netid. So I checked the portal and saw the 7 tabs, and the session start.
For those who got the options today, what was the original major choice? I’ve seen maybe a couple of Public Health and a business.
@CC1056 My son’s was major Economics.
I didn’t get anything. Does this mean rejection?
No. Not necessarily. No news is always good news. Some people still get full admit (not talking about those who got options) after these options are sent. Very few but still happens.
PSA will probably come in February and there will still be people waiting on waitlist.
@CC1056 my son’s first choice was Business and second was Economics, he just selected Blinn Team
Those of us still in review for engineering, no emails or options yet? Applied Oct 15. I guess I just don’t understand this process, I don’t see a pattern or reasoning behind who gets what offer when? It is maddening.
It can be frustrating. However, most holistic Engg decisions are released between late Jan and mid-Feb. Sometimes, the options (if any) come on the AIS and sometimes, you just get an email about the final decision. Last year, S23 received an email on Feb 16th that he was admitted to TAMU Galveston. It’s similar to being deferred, but at least at TAMU the decisions for Engg. come in a 15-20 day period. This year, the wait for S24 continues …
Question… why do you say it’s like being deferred? You take the same exact classes that those on main campus take. Go through ETaM the same as well.
I meant the wait for admittance for holistic admissions to TAMU Engg is similar to being deferred. S24 applied for EA and has been deferred to RD at many schools. The wait in that case is even worse. At least at TAMU, the decisions typically come out in a defined timeframe between late-Jan to mid-Feb.
Is Psych full? i remember last year to was filled by December but not much has been said about it on any platform I’m on. Has anyone who isn’t an auto gotten into psych or any blinn/gateway/waitlist for it?
GATEWAY: My son just checked and he has 7 tabs in Howdy and his AIS has changed to summer 2024, his 1st choice major was business, second remains financial planning but now 1st has changed to General studies which tracks with everything I’ve read here for admission to Gateway. We are OOS. I’ve read everything I can on Gateway on the website - it looks like a great offer for students who are viewed as needing remediation or help adjusting to college life, perhaps needing to prove themselves academically. Is this the intention? We will be thrilled if this is his offer - trust me - over the moon! But I’m seeing some fantastic GPA’s and kids that are clearly prepared academically being offered Gateweay. 1) How are kids selected for this? 2) Can more competitive majors like business still be declared after the completion of Gateway?
THANKS!
Also: Waiting on twin sister to have some movement on her application which is Construction Science. Has anyone heard in that major yet? Does it tend to fill quickly?
I think the A&M crowd is easiest the friendliest around, thank you for all the wonderful advice. I say that as a parent of a current Longhorn! Hope we will have a house divided soon!!
How are kids selected for any of the admissions options? Dunno. My mom says that public universities should have to be more transparent in the admission process. I totally agree.
