Applied 8/3 Entomology and still in review
SPMT is not difficult to get in via TEAM. Most can do so in less than 2 years.
Do you think there is a chance he will not get Teams if he picks Wait and Teams option? We don’t mind waiting, we just don’t want to end up losing Teams.
It’s me! The other Gateway OOS person. Thanks for all the advice this is so helpful.
Majority of those who researched what TEAM is, they picked TEAM only right away.
If you check last few years forums, TEAM does have limit. Some considered first come first serve so TEAM can get full. If by end of April (NSC deadline) the waitlist doesn’t open, and if TEAM already full, the option will change to PSA. I have reason to believe TEAM is expanding a bit because more buildings at Rellis are completed. Also, last year was the first time when students accidentally picked waitlist, they could still call admission right away to change back to TEAM only and gained admission within days. That was not possible in the past.
If you check my post two days ago, TEAM enrollments varies by years, but it is about 500-700. For in-state applicants, most of them jump into the offer because chances of transition to TAMU is way better than CAP to UT Austin. So in general we assume TAMU gives out about 1000 offers per year.
When we say TEAM, TEAB and Gateway are considered “admitted” data, that’s because these all add up to the 11000 TAMU freshmen enrollment. So all these students have priority in change of majors over external transfer to TAMU.
Hope that helps.
Are Public Health and Psych difficult to get into via Team?
@Aggies1997 it NEVER pays to wait for anything at A&M. Everything is competitive, fills up, sells out, etc.
You can chance it by selecting both Wait List and Team, but guaranteed housing will be full by the time you get an answer.
“but guaranteed housing will be full by the time you get an answer.”
Is there guaranteed housing?
Yes. Just may not be exactly what you want.
@PepperMilo yes…up until a certain point.
Like @Christi1993 mentioned, might not be your top pick dorm(s) or location, but right now it is still guaranteed (enough beds available). That’ll be full soon.
Thank you everyone on this thread. Your insight is invaluable. Very grateful for the time you all have taken to bring an OOS family up to speed on this amazing school.
@austinmomlv, would you consider sharing your sons stats? CONGRATS TO HIM!!!
Has anyone heard back from Bio?
@ALL any acceptances/Offers today?
I’m still waiting for a decision.
Applied in mid August, got deferred, and still havent recieved any word from them.
My major is comouter science which is in general engineering.
Does this mean I’m getting rejected, or are they still rolling out full admission and other pathway offers?
And, even though I’m still under review, should I start looking for housing? How will that work?
@HowBoutDemBoyz You can start looking at the private dorms/apartment buildings. They will make you sign a lease to reserve your spot, but many have a clause where you can get out of your lease by May 1 if you can prove you are not attending school in Bryan/College Station. Just double check on all of that before you sign!
@HowBoutDemBoyz absolutely do NOT pay off campus housing deposit anywhere, until you have an acceptance. You’ll be on the hook for a full 12 month lease…there is VERY LITTLE chance of getting out of a lease.
Hopefully you’ve got other schools/acceptances lined up, if A&M doesn’t offer you a spot.
My daughter applied for biomedical sciences and she is still waiting. Not the same as biology but waiting all the same
You can check in TAMU change of major page.
https://tap.tamu.edu/change-of-major/index.html
General rules are - Once required courses are completed and student with competitive GPA, if the majors have openings, TAMU is very willing to change students to full time TAMU (much more tuition collected…). Usually Fall has more openings than Spring. Every year there are three windows for COM. All three windows are the end of Spring, Summer and Fall semesters.
Public Health!
